Australian financial aid for Indonesia
Oct 22nd, 2012 at 3:28pm

Just looking at the figures-

Our funding for 2012-2013 is $578.4 million dollars.

In 2007-2008 Ausaid gave Indonesia $391.4 million.

Be nice if people gave us handouts for doing SFA.

Cheers for that. I knew we handed out millions, but I didn't think it was that much. White man's burden lives on.

If we had a bit more of a presence, we too could demand tribute.

Meanwhile, we have people on hospital waiting lists for years. I know someone who's been on the waiting list for almost 2 years for an endoscopy. A simple endoscopy!

No, nothing to do with Greek spirits. It goes down your throat.

We give the Palestinians over $1 million per week for some cheese and missile for the kids, $56.7 million per year.

The Labor government are pissing away our money faster than a group of drunken sailors.

Right. And our closest neighbour - one of the biggest growing countries in Asia - a country of over 200 million - is a waste of money.

The don’t call it the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for nothing. That money gets spent on roads and ports for economic reasons, not welfare. That, and to stop them thinking of invading us. Like the Japs.

Ask the CEO of Coca Cola Amatil what he thinks of laying a sealed road through a rregion of a million people. It saves him getting his product there by mule.

He’ll also tell you Indonesia is developing rapidly and has a hugely growing population, most of it under 27.

Still, a population of 22 million hitting retirement age needs more sports ovals.

Common sense, innit.

actually indonesia gave 500,000,000 to the IMF last year (not received but gave).
however, i'm all for good relations with the indo's
worlds 10th biggest economy, growing at 6.5 % . by 2030, projected to be the 5th biggest in the world.

we should be establishing chains of aussie home grown fast food, grocery and coffee shops like there's no tomorrow.
what else?  we could sell them a heap of aluminium boats,  they no leaky leaky

But western apologist think we're oppressing them with the financial system. Yet we're building their smacking country.
Try and work out that logic from that clown.

Yet while we have bulk billing slowly disappearing, hospital waiting lists, roads that need fixing (the Bruce Highway north of the Noosa turn off is a smacking disgrace for the National highway), thousands of unemployed and homeless, we spend millions on a foreign country so they might be nice to us in the future?
