The Shmuel HaNavi bus bombing was the suicide bombing of a crowded public bus in the Shmuel HaNavi quarter in Jerusalem, Israel, on August 19, 2003.

Twenty-three people were killed and over 130 wounded. Many of the victims were children, some of them infants.

The Islamist militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

The huge explosion killed 7 children and 16 adults, among them an eight-months-pregnant woman, and injured more than 130 people. The bomb was spiked with ball-bearings designed to increase injuries on the crowded bus.

Hamas said the bomber was a 29-year-old mosque preacher from the city of Hebron.

Following the attack, the Israel Defense Forces raided Hebron and killed or arrested several individuals who they said were involved in the planning and preparation of the attack

When Israel invaded Lebanon a couple of years ago - dual Australian/Lebanese and Australian/Jewish citizens headed back to their "home" countries to fight each other which I believe was wrong. If you're an Australian citizen you shouldn't be permitted to fight on behalf of another nation. David Hicks was imprisoned for years for doing just that.

As a student Avram - can you refuse to go back?

My studies finished this month and my visa here runs to March 2013 but I am a reservist so if I am called the letter will go to my home in Haifa. I must go as my studies are finished and I am reservist under 30 years old.
