What's the point of debating anything with you when you refuse to accept the fact that Howard did not implement the GST until after he had taken it to an election? Why won't you accept that?

I have always accepted that he went to an election.

The difference we have is in what that means.

The fact that he had promised to never ever introduce a GST in my view means that he had promised to not take it to an election and that taking it to an election does not mean that he had not promised to never introduce a GST or that in introducing it he had not broken that iron clad gaurantee.

Without that original promise Howard would have never been PM.
