And it aint churches either. homeless are out there in the streets and parks.

SOB

30,000 in Melbourne alone Sad Where are the churches to look after them ?? Surely all of the vacant churches could house these people but why are all of these churches vacant ?

At least a welfare cheque keeps them alive which is a far cry from some weazel words out of an old book !!

Longweekend,
we all contribute far more than the 10% tithe by way of tax.

This money goes to social security to feed & house the poor.

What is your problem?

very very little of it goes to the genuinely poor that the Chuches help. if you think your taxes are an alternative to a social conscience then congratulations - you have none.

so does the church give the 30,000 homeless in Melbourne a $250 social welfare cheque each week if as you say very little of it goes to the needy ??

I doubt it Sad

the federal budget is $300B. you work out what percentage that is... nah, you wont. it is less than 0.1% which by any definition is  VERY LITTLE.

Dear Longy,
I pay such heavy taxes that I feel no need to contribute more for the poor.
I consider myself to be one of the poor - the working poor.

I don't live at Point Piper like the rich.

so don't contribute money. contribute TIME. go work at a shelter or feed the homeless or help a church wrap up presents for the poor at Christmas time.

but you wont. the reality is that you talk the talk but when asked to actually HELP the poor and needy you are just like the rest of the atheists.  NOT INTERESTED.

Dear Longy,
I will volunteer my time when I am retired.
It's a bit much to ask me when I'm working fulltime isn't it?

forgiven

namaste

No...

What a troll you are.
As if you're out there helping all the homeless beggars.

forgiven

namaste

But I'm not the one who bags out and abuses the people who DO go out there and help the poor...

And remember, a lot of those Christians that you look down on, work long hours ( perhaps even longer than you) but still give up their free time to do charity work...

Did you even look at reply #92?

It seems that more Non-Christians give of their time.

It is so

forgiven for misinformation

Namaste

Well at least two on your list are religious organizations, and several don't even work with poor people at all...

the WWF was a bit of a reach!!!!

so is that your admission that virtually everyone has dissagreed with you and called you out on your angry hate-the-poor attitude? Because while you are bagging the christians that give of their time and money generously, you and your gay-stalker mate do nothing at all other than throw rocks at those helping?

You know what the difference is between you and the nutjob shooting firies trying to put out a fire???

longy would be very selective about who he'd help. They'd have to own their own house, run their own business and have a PHd.

He's the worst face of Christianity. He's homophobic, racist, bigoted, capitalistic, misogynistic, close-minded and arrogant. Hey hang on.....that describes some of the more fanatical Christians to a tee. It also describes the fanatical Muslims that he so hates, no wonder they can't stand each other, they see eye to eye on so many things.

no it's your admission of what a hypocrite you really are !! You only defend the poor in this instance because you are really defending your church mates running a corporation which scams money off people and only throws a few crumbs at the poor whilst stashing the rest in investments to feather their own filthy nests Sad

and they certainly couldn't be on the dole or renting !!

as an example watch what happens if some scruffy homeless dude walks through the doors of hillsux church and they quickly shuffle him out the door and into some program where they can scam money off the tax payers. Dirty scruffy homeless people would upset the upper class church goers. It's bad for business you know !!
