Like I said you can't show me in the bible where it says to stash tithes away in a bank because the bible says the complete opposite !! Would you like me to repeat the verses for the 1000th time ?
And sticking it in a bank is hoarding it idiot !! Even your own bible says it is. What good does sticking it in a bank help desperately needy people who need it NOW !! The churches stuck it in the bank vault instead of passing it on to desperate needy people. In the end the greedy churches lost it all and the needy still went without. Your attitude towards the needy is no different than your attitude towards the underclass on this forum
People are getting sick of your hypocrisy and double standards.
nail,
You don't know your bible.
Look up Jesus parable of the talents.
And the bible also DOES counsel us to be provident [provide] for the future.
Read the Old Testament story of Joseph, and Pharaohs dream about the 7 kine [cows]. Genesis 41:17
And what was Joseph's interpretation of the dream, and advice ?
The dream represented the coming of 7 full years of harvest, and 7 lean years of harvest.
Joseph advised Pharaoh to build granaries to hold [
to 'hoard'] the grain from the 7 full years, to feed the people in the 7 lean years.
And where does it say in the bible that churches should take money and stick it in a bank vault or buy property instead of passing it onto the needy ? And why would I donate money to a church that sticks it in a bank vault for years on end instead of passing it directly onto the needy ?
here's what the bible says about wealth. You obviously ignore these in favour of cherry picking something that ignores the true spirit of giving !!
Quote:Matthew 6:19
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 14:33
Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Money.
Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Phil 2:3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Acts 2:44-45
All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
