F-ck... you're asking that on a forum like this?
Go ask a thousand Christians and you'll probably get a thousand different answers. Like any other religion you can cherry pick what bits you want to believe and still consider yourself a follower of that faith. You'll even get different answers from people within the same congregation of the same church.

About the only constant with Christians is mention of God, Jesus and the Bible.

Say you believe in God, acknowledge Jesus and mention the Bible and you're a Christian - it's the bare minimum, but it gets you into the club.

As for the teachings, it's pretty damn easy to go find a Christian church that is a best fit for your beliefs - not just religious beliefs, but moral, social and even political beliefs.

Find yourself falling into the too hard basket and unable to find a suitable church or simply can't be f-cked making the effort to show up - or even think that Churches are the instrument of Satan?
Then just kick back at home with a beer, abuse the wife, kick the dog, think of Jesus and you'll be believing you're just as pious as the cross waving, church goer down the road.
