so how do you explain 600 years of the Catholic Inquisition of torturing people to death or do you just ignore the evidence like you do with everything else that you don't agree with ?

Why does he need to 'explain it'.....It happened, we all know that...it STILL doesn't have anything to do with devil worship....And even 'admitting' the devil exists means you must accept the opposite idea, that God exists...

because he talks as though I have made these things up and they are of no consequence !!

Everyone is talking about how bad Hitler was and how is it possible that he is a Christian but Christians like to ignore a totally worse event perpetrated by a Christian institution for at least 600 years !!

go figure !!

They're probably 'ignoring' it because it has no relevance to the topic.

But if ya wanna bring that into it, how about that lovely atheist fella by the name of Joseph Stalin, who's body count dwarfs that of the inquisition and hitler combined?  maybe we should just ignore that too?
Jesus that was a great post. Hats off to you Rob!!!

Exactly.  He was a good (albeit slightly misunderstood) Christian boy.

The Abrahamic religions are the single greatest source of evil on Earth today, and have so been since their inception. All present-day wars are results of the premeditated aggression of Abrahamic nations on others that have never threatened them; the degrees of brutality and violence that are their explicit policies exceed all historic examples; and the sexual depravities regularly indulged by their politicians, businessmen, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens are equally unparalleled.

What more need be said? Jews, Christians and Muslims are the worst vermin on Earth.

The 600 year inquisition was all about devils.
That's what the inquisition was attempting to drive out.

No, not really..it was more about making sure everyone stayed Catholic...(and the 'right' kind of Catholic)

The primary focus of the various Inquisitions was heresy...not devil worship...which is why most of the people involved were either Jewish, or followers of Catharism

Gizmo,
you replied after only 8 minutes of me posting that video.

You haven't watched the video - so don't comment on it.
You need to watch it to get an education.
These things are real - they really happened!

forgiven

that's like saying that if someone likes the same pizza as Stalin then that makes them a mass murderer.

Denying the existence of a god or gods does not make one a mass murderer !! However if someone followed the laws in the bible to the letter then they would have to be a mass murderer !! It's a good thing that Christians don't take their own bible seriously Grin

As far as wars go The Crusades were definitely about religion . But most wars are about acquiring land, resources or power struggles ( stopping the spread of communism, land,  oil etc etc). Afghanistan is a funny one because Bush Jr said something about crusades in his speech. The Taliban are religious  so that war is a funny one. But I believe religion is more political now than an actual motivation for war. Religion sure does whip a people up into supporting warmongers. That's probably was what Bush Jr was doing. Warmongers aren't religious. They're assholes.

Correct.  Just as identifying as a catholic doesn't make one a mass murderer.

Robert,
Would you say the same about someone who identifies as being a Nazi?

Yep.  There's only one thing that makes one a mass murderer - killing heaps of people.

But the Catholic institution was involved in mass murder for at least 600 years Sad What has changed since then ? Their bible is still the same so why aren't they still burning witches at the stake ?

Hi Robert,
so you are not concerned about the rise of Catholics & you
wouldn't be concerned about the rise once more of Nazis?

My claim is that they are both failed doctrines which led to the death & torture of millions of people.
We accept Catholics but not Nazis - go figure?

the RISE of catholics?  Oh boy - you're only a millennium out of date...

and I'd actually welcome a rise in nazis - it'd certainyl help to separate the fact from the fiction. The whole nazi image is too "cartoon super-villain-ish" to be real, and besides, it couldn't be worse than the differnt brand of fascism we live under anyway.
