POLICE are conducting inquiries after an elderly man was assaulted and robbed at Redfern.

The 92-year-old man had just left a local pub where he'd been playing the pokies and was walking along Morehead St about 7.40pm yesterday, when he was punched to the back of the head by an unknown assailant.

The offender stole cash and other items from the victim's pockets before running from the scene.

The elderly man made his way home before contacting police.

Police from Redfern Local Area Command attended the man's residence and commenced inquiries.

The victim was taken to hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics as a precaution after complaining of feeling unwell.

Investigations are continuing in a bid to identify and locate the offender, who's been described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his mid to late 20s, 178cm tall with a thin build.

I'm usually a friendly sort of cove and if I see someone in the street I'll say hello. A group sitting on their porch smiled and offered me a beer, which I took.

They also gave me instructions on how to get where I was going - the Redfern Market.

I find people usually treat you well if you smile and talk to them.

Paulson wants to try it sometime, if he can stop being so effing miserable.

Oh, brilliant, Andrei, you really are so clever. Of course that sort of thing never happens anywhere but Redfern. Stop making an idiot of yourself.

Oh OK.  Doesn't really fit with your follow up though:

redfern is a cheery, friendly place all the time, but anywhere else will see c00ns lurking, ready to jump you.

bugger guys, I get the sentiment, but it's so obviously embellished it's not funny.  If you have to exaggerate the story, it's not worth telling.

Mr Paulson, at least Andrei can sometimes be entertaining. You, on the other hand, are just offensive.

I'm very nice to people I respect,  which not surprisingly, excludes you.  I'm sure you get that a lot.

I know you have to keep your average of 50 posts a day going, and it must be hard to pull off since you don't have single thought worthy of consideration.  But for future reference, You don't need to post "awww disagree with me do you" every 5 minutes - you can rest assured that yes, they do disagree with you.

the default postion SOB is that EVERYONE disagreees with you, most are gobsmacked at your stupidity and a few are routinely entertained by you as the forum's jester.

And worse still... you dont understand the sentence above.
