Poor old labrats cant handle that their party took over responsibility for the slippery pete.

Good luck convincing people slipper was liberal, when labor used him for their own slimey purposes.

A corrup politician always fits better with the labor party. And thats exactly what happened.

Remind us what the Libbos were doing while he was ripping off the system with obvious approval from them and why did they ignore it for 20 yrs?
Until of course ..the day after he jumped ship  Grin

They were waiting for the natural progression toward labor or they were going to boot him. Gillard said, dont worry about your past, dont let those liberals push you around and get rid of you. We will gladly take you on, you are the right character for labor to align with.

Wow it took them 20 yrs and just happen to do mention it the day after he jumped ship..who would like to buy a Gold Coast time share?

so whats the difference between the past 20 years and now?.. they say he could do 5 years??????.

why would he not just have to repay like in the past?

In the past the party would have supported him and ensured he repaid the money before it was investigated by the police.....Similar to Peter Reith and the phone card affair.....Despite the fact it is directly against the rules to allow your family to use your government phone card and Reith's son racked up over $50K he escaped any punishment and avoided a police investigation.....Anyone else would have been charged with fraud!!!

Huh Huh Huh

hardly. anybody else woudl be told to repay the money immediately - which is what happened. It was careless and stupid. It was not however, fraud. That implies deliberate intent.

Slipper's problem is that this is about th 20th time he has been brough to task over it.

well they were in the process of expelling him so that's not exactly true. But you have to admit, Labor knows how to choose 'em!  If they aren't pre selecting from their own pedophiles, thieves and corrupt union members, they are bringing them in from the outside.

labor is corrupt to the core so that only the corrupt and deviant get a look in.

Errrrr....what about Reith's son and girlfriend who racked up the bill.....Surely they knew what they where doing when they racked up $50 000 at taxpayers expense.....Daddy pays the money back and it all goes away.....Glad to see what standards you accept and defend!!!

The AFP has today (7 January 2013) served the legal representative of Mr Peter Slipper MP with a summons in relation to three offences of Dishonestly Causing a Risk of a Loss to the Commonwealth pursuant to section 135.1(5) Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).

Mr Slipper MP has been summonsed to appear in the Canberra Magistrates Court on 15 February 2013
.

It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.

Why NOT ?

Section 135.1 (5) carries penalty of a maximum five years in prison, however Fairfax Media understands that even if found guilty, Mr Slipper is very unlikely to face the maximum penalty.

It is also unlikely the case would be resolved before next federal election

Bit of a "non story" - really

Its not a case of team colours cheering amico.
Craig Thomson is a prime example - not to mention the numerous Labor politicians involved in rape accusations, embezzlement and sexual assault cases - that it is about each individual case.

Slipper is disgusting. He should be ashamed of his behaviour which so morally wrong on so many levels.

I hold this opinion irrelevant of his political party and people like you need to be a bit more mature and grown up to not turn it into us v them politics.
That helps nobody and just makes you look like a biased moron.

I think it is reasonably clear that Slipper may not be the most upright politician we have had.

It seems to me that almost every term we have half a dozen politicians caught out rorting benefits, they are simply asked to pay it back and that is it.

In my memory this type of thing has never been actioned by the AFP to the stage of a court case and coincidentally it is a case with a hung parliament where there is political gain to be had.

true dna but a bit late in the day to try and upheaval a govt.. dont you think???...

I am wondering why this case is any different to the other times he was found with his fingers in the till???.. I mean he is facing 5 year jail.. we know that wont happen.. but he didnt face that before did he????

maybe it was kept in house before and the AFP werent involved....seems odd though..

unless of course... its a HUGE amount that he is charged with stealing..
