(3) if it's a Labor person or their supporters then you are assumed innocent for life

Check the facts before you start dribbling.

Hmm, seems you skipped over this one DNA. Why am I not surprised?

He was outed from the labor party as soon as they found out ....

how long have the libs known and covered up Slippers antics ? the only time it bothered them was after he already gave them the finger ....

Any political party is bound to attract some unsavoury characters ... there is no way to go through everyone complete history .. the libs however cover up and protect any wrong doing from their members until it suits them .....

Probably took his boyfriend there, the gays love wineries.

I had sympathy at first for Slipper, but it's all gone now and I feel nothing but anger.

He's played his employers, us, the taxpayers, for mugs, and up until now got away with it.

The Coalition needs to explain why they preselected him 9 times, and Labor needs to explain why they shafted the respected Harry Jenkins and saw him fit to be the Speaker of OUR Parliament.

A pox on both their houses.

THe facts were not assessed on Abbott's indecent assault charge.  The case was dismissed.  Several witesses saw Abbott touch the victim.  One wonders why he can't keep his hands to himself

Abbott: I was charged with indecent assault
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/07/17/1089694611809.html

However, there were 3 witnesses to Abbott thowing a punch at a woman's head.  He was not charged for that, as he was for indecent assault - but it does tell us quite a bit about his character I think.  He was also chaged and found guilty of damaging public property - although no conviction was recorded.  No wonder the Libs are desperately wheeling out any female they can find to try to talk him up.

(1) There are plenty of innuendos - but there are no Affidavits or signed statements

There were 3 witnesses to Abbott thowing a punch at a woman's head.  All 3 readily supplied the press with this information

(2) You make a comment that he was not charge - but IT says alot about Abbott. I am assuming the word "IT" refers to "THE EVENT". Because he was not charged - THE EVENT did not take place
There were 3 witnesses to Abbott thowing a punch at a woman's head.  All 3 say the event did take place.  Only Abbott denies it did.  And well - he would, wouldn't he.

(3) All this happened when he was 20 years old and you guys hold him more culpable and responsible than a 35 years old lawyer who was acting within the fiduciary and professional responsibility

At least Gillard has never been charged with indecent assault or been found guilty of damaging public property.  In fact - no actual accusations of wrong-doing were ever made against her, were they.

Anyway - 2013 is now 8 days in, and so far Abbott has not punched or groped anyone yet!!  It looks like a good year for big Tone!  He has his "women" all coming out to protect him against that nasty "handbag mafia".  Now - if he could just explain how he is going to pay for his Great Big Carbon Tax to achieve exactly the same emissions reductions as Labor - then he will be plain sailing!

Oh oh, looks like slippery pete was using our money to personally tour the vinyards and have a sip of drink.

Slipper 'toured wineries at taxpayers' expense'

Gillards/labor's judgment is pathetic on many levels.

neither party has a lot to be proud of over their dealings with this man..hes never been a shrinking violet when it comes to top of the range fraud..

he has been allowed to repay $20.000 a substantial sum stolen from the taxpayer. yet still allowed to carry on as if  he was not a repeat offender..something wrong with a system that says it is still ok for him to be an MP even with a record of theft...

would a bank teller be allowed to keep his job had he been caught with his hands in the till

i doubt it...

I wonder how other MPs like the idea that a person like this taints them all.

yeah and gillard hasnt helped her lover to help himself to other peoples money... well not that we know of.... though I presume she allows timmy to drive her govt funded car and chalk up 8 speeding tickets..or maybe its his kids....we may find out eventually.

yes I am sure if what is said about Tony isnt exactly nice. or anything to be proud of.... I would rather his misdeeds when he was YOUNG AND FOOLISH.[20yrs old]

than gillards... misdeeds when she claims she was a YOUNG AND NAIVE  32yr old lawyer..[ Grin]

I have noticed she hasnt said the words.. working families since all this came to light...

Anybody else notice Slipper was doing this when he was still an endorsed member of the LIBERAL party? This happened in 2010 , why didn't Phony tony dump Slipper for his misconduct? Why did the Libs keep endorsing Slippper for years when they knew he was fiddling the books? Abbott is complicit in covering this up for Slipper.

Thomson?

If you defend that slimeball, dnarever, then you are letting bias go way beyond the acceptable norm?

His actions - the ones confirmed and known about - show scant regard for the membership money of the lowest paid workers in Australia and you know that.

Possible reason to celebrate.

Slipper faces pension dilemma

FORMER parliamentary Speaker Peter Slipper risks losing millions of dollars in retirement benefits if he is convicted of using his government Cabcharge card to tour restaurants and wineries.

When he retires, Mr Slipper can expect to receive a yearly pension of about $157,000 for the rest of his life.

However, if he is found guilty of the alleged fraud, Mr Slipper is likely to lose everything besides a refund of his superannuation contributions (without interest).

Mr Slipper's retirement package is especially lucrative because of his long service - 23 years as an MP - and his occupation of highly paid roles including Speaker of the House of Representatives, where he earned an annual salary of $371,463.

The threat to his entitlements provides an incentive for him to resign before he faces court next month, if he fears a guilty verdict and wants to protect his pension.
