You haven't been listening, goldie. If the Met is predicting the next 5 years are likely to be as hot as the hottest year on record, who in their right mind thinks the planet has stopped warming. When the extreme becomes the normal you've got climate change.

Our satellites tell us the planet must be warming and the earth is responding.

Cherry picking 1998 to argue a warming pause only works if you don't really understand statistics. Some people say there are lies, damned lies and statistics. I say there are lies, damned lies and the statistically ignorant.

2012 was the ninth-warmest year on record

Yes - 2012 was the ninth-warmest year on record.  That is quite extraordinary for part of the most severe La Nina event ever recoded isn't it!

2012 was an extreme La Nina year - but STILL the the ninth-warmest year on record!!!

It really does make those morons who claim "the earth has not warmed for 16 years" look rather silly doesn't it!  But then again - those who get their scientific knowledge from David Rose of the Daily Mail  deserve to be treated as retards, don't they.  It is good to see you agree.

Looks more like a failed el nino year to me. Just not enough heat around to kick off an el nino, so quits half way through.

It was on its way up in Jan from a la nina condition.

You are beyond help.

Since you have decided to jump in on behalf of Gold Medal - perhaps you can answer the questions that were asked of him?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why has sea level continued to rise?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why has global glacial mass balance continued to decline?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why has the extent of the arctic ice cap continued to decrease?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why have ocean temperatures continued to increase?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why has every single on of the last 27 consecutive years had a global average temperature above the long term average?

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why were 2010 and 2005 the hottest years ever recorded?

And,

If there "no warming in the last 16 years and none expected for the next 5 at least" - why is the only "evidence" you have to support this an opinion piece from some columnist in the Daily Mail?

If you cannot answer these questions...well - you probably should just go back to posting fasle stories from The Australian

You never did apologise to the forum for doing that, did you.  I blame your parents for not brining you up correctly.

Not at all and I dont intend to. I already said why it is still legit and why the cult pressure must have gotten to the poor sod.

You post a link to a newspaper story that is clearly  wrong.

The author of the scientific paper mentioned in the story says the story is wrong.

THen, a few days later, the newspaper itself publishes a retraction and admits it was wrong.

But YOU say:
"cult pressure must have gotten to the poor sod"

What a bizarre, little conspiracy theory world you must live in, you poor sad little deranged boy.

You have posted a sea surface temperature anomaly graph.

Where does that relate to please?

Do you have a reference?

And how does this relate to the Southern Oscilllation Index?

Just posting a random graph does not make you look intelligent.
The exact opposite actually.

No, just going by the facts and the facts are sea level rise is the same trend or less in the 21st century compared to the 20th, which he decoupled from the cult.
