It is not that common for the Australian-average temperature to exceed 39°C for even two days in a row. A run of three days above 39°C has occurred on only three occasions, and a run of four days just once, in 1972.

The current heat wave has seen a sequence of Australian temperatures above 39°C of seven days, and above 38°C of 11 days straight.

What are the odds of this without climate change?

Dont know. Ask a weather man what lack of h2o, a slow country wide high, a lack of a tropical low and the jetstream staying low will do and were those weather events caused by co2. The answer about the co2 will be a definitive no.

Ask if they stuck around for 11 days, could it cause a record heat wave. Answer would be yes.

New papers are destroying the co2 doomsday cult

First paper
black carbon takes almost 50% off of co2 current warming of the earth.

Second paper tells us that
they found a very low climate sensitivity to co2

Third paper tells us
Ocean-driven warming along the western Antarctic Peninsula needs to be considered as part of a natural centennial timescale cycle of climate variability

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/01/23/new-study-ocean-driven-warming-along-the-w...

Fourth paper tells us
Solar Activity At End Of 20th Century Was At Highest Levels Of Past 9,000 Years

http://climaterealists.com/?id=11006

Back to the drawing board and this time, dont bring your closed minded doomsday cult and sack any and all of your leaders.

Well I know you like stating the obvious, but,  you do miss the point don't you.??

Read the quote in BOLD,  above,  get over your obsession ....   with co2 ... I frankly don't understand it at all.

MOTR quite correctly asks...  would this unprecedented occurrence have become reality, if AGW wasn't a major factor.....   a major factor,  I'll repeat it.

We LIVE in a carbon world......we are inextricably linked to carbon-based  'everything' .......  it is not surprising therefore,  that when the balances fail , for WHATEVER reason,  it's most likely that carbon is at its base.

]Ask if they stuck around for 11 days, could it cause a record heat wave. Answer would be yes[   I mean give us a break... Roll Eyes

The Earth has it's regulatory processes to deal with natural  dangers...eg hyper sunspot activity....

SHE doesn't have any special way of dealing with US.  So SHE , perhaps less adaptable than us , can  bring to bear only those defences  SHE rules.
WE have taken TOO MANY liberties,  and SHE seeks only to redress the balance. Be assured we will not like it.!!

She will go on,  BUT its pretty likely,  if we don't DO something,  that we won't go on with HER.

So CULT  THAT  !! proglollingaroundstoned. Cheesy

You seem pretty intent on trawling the denier blogs for an explanation for a warming that you actually deny, progs. It's pretty easy to cherry pick the bits that you like and ignore the rest of the paper.

I haven't had a good look at the last paper, but the authors of most of the papers you post here have come to a different conclusion to you.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ – A group of 20 ex-NASA scientists have concluded that the science used to support the man-made climate change hypothesis is not settled and no convincing physical evidence exists to support catastrophic climate change forecasts.

Seems all the catastrophic man made you know what is indeed bulltish, who would have thunk it.

Have a sticky over at notrickszone for more, cant link before you ask.

Thankfully some of the scientists avoided the Kool-Aid so freely supped at the cult of AGW

None of these former NASA scientists will submit their findings for peer review.....NASA has invited them to join the debate but the deniers have refused to support there claims with scientific evidence that can be scrutinised and peer reviewed!!!

What does NASA say?

“NASA sponsors research into many areas of cutting-edge scientific inquiry, including the relationship between carbon dioxide and climate," the agency's chief scientist, Dr. Waleed Abdalati, told The Huffington Post in an email. "As an agency, NASA does not draw conclusions and issue 'claims' about research findings. We support open scientific inquiry and discussion...If the authors of this letter disagree with specific scientific conclusions made public by NASA scientists, we encourage them to join the debate in the scientific literature or public forums rather than restrict any discourse.”

WTF???

Quote:
http://www.smh.com.au/environment/energy-smart/state-follows-national-lead-over-...

THE NSW government is planning to rely heavily on the carbon tax to cut greenhouse gas emissions until 2020, despite campaigning to have it abolished.

The three-yearly NSW State of the Environment report outlines some progress in cutting emissions but concedes the state's programs mostly exist to support the federal government's climate change efforts.

''The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will be primarily addressed through the Commonwealth's Clean Energy Futures package, rather than through effort by individual states and territories,'' it says

the 'australian average temperature' is not something that has been religiously recorded the for last 100 years. Suddenly, this figure that no one has ever heard of before appears. and how many people recall a week of very hot weather from their pasts? all of us.
