in SEQ they aren't ... my dam is less than half full, (a wee dam it is) mine and others water tanks are below halfway.. Many people are already buying water for their tanks here...
and my creek is nearly a billabong.... like it was in the last drought... and at the end of that drought, which lasted 10 yrs, this 'permanent' creek was basically a muddy hollow in the creek bed.
I don't expect it to get that bad again, well I hope not... but the current drier than usual summer and heat, has dried out ground moisture very quickly in 2012-2013 so far.
I expect to get significant rains in the later part of summer, and into autumn... from cyclones and the effects of the Monsoon trough....well I surely hope so.
.
Ahhh this is so fine..... was I right or was I right.!!
Have had approx. 100 mm here since yesterday....
Still waiting for the centre of former Cyclone Oswald to arrive overhead,
BUT have definitely been vindicated... at least in my mind... gaf what the rest of you think.!
Of course, I am just as vulnerable as the next householder, in the region at the mo... if strong winds hit anything could happen.... I can take as much rain as mother wants to thro at me. Yippee. More to come.
Love this place...
