Quote:7) Rape of Female Captives (Deuteronomy 21:10-14 NAB)
"When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD, your God, delivers them into your hand, so that you take captives, if you see a comely woman among the captives and become so enamored of her that you wish to have her as wife, you may take her home to your house. But before she may live there, she must shave her head and pare her nails and lay aside her captive's garb. After she has mourned her father and mother for a full month, you may have relations with her, and you shall be her husband and she shall be your wife. However, if later on you lose your liking for her, you shall give her her freedom, if she wishes it; but you shall not sell her or enslave her, since she was married to you under compulsion."
nail,
If i were so lazy as to let you [or some other person, or some other organisation], interpret the bible for me, then, you might choose to tell me that the bible is full of evil.
And that may be YOUR opinion, of the bible.
And that would be all that i would ever 'know' about the bible - a knowledge that was filtered through the prejudices of other people.
e.g.
Your source for bible knowledge;

nail,
Why should i let you, or anyone else, interpret the bible for me ?I can read and write, i can count to 10,
i know which way is up.
And i read the bible.
And that spirit that is inside me helps me to understand what the words of God mean.
Psalms 25:8
Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
Psalms 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Do men want, a 'rejoicing the heart' ?
Yes, i'm sure that most men do desire a 'rejoicing the heart'.
But more than that, almost all men decide to choose lawlessness, as a means to prevail in the world, as a path that they are hoping will lead to the 'rejoicing of their heart'.
They can, choose that path.
But they won't find 'rejoicing the heart'.
But they will find something; ....The 'end', of their own pride and vanity.
