Cronulla Sharks bombshell
Mar 8th, 2013 at 5:16pm

It's 6pm as I write this, already the head coach, trainer and other coaching staff have been sacked from Cronulla Rugby League Football Club.

It is expected that there will be mass sackings of players in the next half hour.

This is over the alleged use of illegal drugs during the 2010 - 2011 season.

This is a very, very complex issue and much much more information will be revealed in  the coming days.

However I would like to say this, it is a fine line, a very fine line between what it is that is permissible for players to use and what is not legal.

Most of all I feel sorry for the players. Most of those running around in Rugby League these days would not win an intelligence contest. Whilst I'm not saying they are dumb, many aren't exactly the smartest in class either.

I feel that many of the players who will be suspended have been led either willingly or unwillingly into this fracas.

Many pressures are exerted on players to do their best or better still, better than their best. At stake are reputations and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I believe the players are 'the cattle' in this situation.

I believe the only fair way to do this is to draw a line in the sand and say to all players and coaching staff, cross that line again and you are gone forever.

But.....I think in fairness to the code everyone, should be given a last chance.

Blame will go everywhere but you can be sure it will not be meted out fairly.

Looks like they want to make an example of the sharks so that they can sweep the rest under the carpet.

Looks like nobody in the administration of the clubs or the game who allowed it to happen have anything to worry about.

Some things just don't change, another football season another case of the NRL in crisis. Just another day in the life of the NRL.

Cheesy Cheesy

what a joke, lundy and gillard need to take a bit of the heat off labor and come out with "organized crime is running football"  where's the fing evidence.
its all total BS.
its a shame that our sport has to be a sacrificial lamb to the "organized crime" that is the federal parliament.

from my understanding, the things the sharks took at the time were not even illegal back then.

smacking makes my blood boil.  and the "crime commision" some 100's of millions of dollars to investigate this rubbish.

f off sports minister,  whats the fing government got to do with sport anyway. they're all fat lazy powder puffs.

pollies should go join the mardi gras parade . they'd fit right in.  wouldnt surprise me if there was an agenda to try and kill off football and get everyone into a gay parade.

and as for that crying fwit who the cops tackled. babbling like a baby and then going "viral" on the news.  what a weak piece of manhood he was.  whimpering coz he fell on the ground.

i'd like to line that little piece of drama queen up and let paul gallen put a shoulder charge on him.

fing weak dog of a country we're becoming. Angry Angry Angry
