Paint schemes rarely mean anything as far as aircraft type goes. Grey makes more sense simply because it blends well visually against the sky, aiding the aircraft against detection by the Mk1 Eyeball. Camo schemes are generaly a hold over from before AESA radars became commonplace and using terrain features to mask yourself from airborne radar sets was still viable. These days if a sufficiently powerful AESA set gets above you then there isn't anything a paintjob can do to hide you barring the use of extraordinarily expensive RAM infused paints.

My bad on my post they were G models not A models

The G's were to replace the RF 111Cs and went to 6 SQN in their original grey paint job for Reccon and the F111C remained in the strike role at  1 sqn in cammo.

The paint jobs for the Cs was just the paint we always painted them since the 1970s nothing more interesting than that.

Here's a cool photo of one of our G models landing without wheels, it happened a few years ago

Yeah well are you actually allowed to take pictures of them and post them on public forums? Maybe now that they are not in service anymore but well i dunno about that one. . . . .

my thoughts as well. and lets be honest, not even the forums usual weirdos are supporting SOB. he has done such a brilliant self-immolation job on his credibility that anyone who supports him simply HAS to be a clone/sock or fellow star trek embarrassment. no other options are available.

Personally, I go for 'sock'

No you have done "the job". You could work for abbott. You lie and lie and lie and lie. Repeating the lies over and over like a slogan until the idiots believe you and the non idiots stop listening. the thing is that i dont care what you or the idiots think. Seems theres only about 3 decent ppl in this entire forum so your "campaign" is wasted.

Why does this sound so much like the words of another moron in this thread? Something along the lines of; you don't know if I was in the RAAF or not.

Maybe because we are socks? Is that what you are saying troll?

Tailhook deployed even. I'd be willing to wager that most of the damage was absorbed by the weapons bay, forward avionics bays and forward landing gear compartment and they had that big bitch flight worthy again with just a month as hanger queen.. Gotta love the Vark...

True Story: During Desert Storm a USAF EF-111 Raven scored an air-to-air kill against an Iraqi MiG. Mind you the Raven is the unarmed electronic warfare varient of the Aardvark. Apparently the Raven picked up a trailing MiG and there weren't any friendly fighters near enough for an intercept. So the pilot did what any sane Ewar bird would do and dived for the ground. The MiG pilot was so fixated on trying to get a weapons lock on the Raven he forgot to watch his altimeter and flew right into the ground. Air Force chalked it up as a kill for the Raven.

Not quite as awesome as the F-15E crew that scored an air-to-air kill with a laser guided bomb, but still pretty damn cool.

So far we know Spot flew in an F111. We know this because he told us it was grey and loud.
His wife was in the RAAF that's why he was allowed in and chucked the keys to one.

All perfectly reasonable...

Not sure how the RAAF handles such things, but the US military only grants check rides to A. Politicians (rarely and they better have a damn good reason for using up flight hours), B. Entertainment personalities for public relations purposes, or C. Military presonnel either directly involved with a specific aircraft's maintenance for test purposes or as a reward for exceptional service. In all cases it involves several hours of classroom and practical trainering on emergency procedures and safety breifs as well as a full flight physical that if you fail they probably won't even let you in the same hanger as the aircraft you might've flown in.

Yeah the RAAF is pretty much the same.

Even for military personnel the free rides were rare, F18 were easier to get a flight than an pig.

Best flight I ever had was an Iroquois Gunship (right hand seat), 4 rockets WP & HE and 4000 rounds through the mini guns. Learned that I couldn't fly for sh1t and gunships kick arse.  Grin

Why should we believe you?

SOB

I believe Biggie because every little feeler question he's been asked he not only gives the correct responses to, he does so unhesitatingly. Futher, he occassionally includes information that unless you've been in the military working on, in, or around helicopters and air assault it's damn unlikely he could fake it simply because it's the sort of stuff you wouldn't know otherwise. For example, his comments on ammunition stores for an M-134 are spot on to what I've had experience with the same system because you country uses the exact same kit for that weapon we use.

Meanwhile it took sixteen pages of whining and general butthurt just to get you to tell us an Aardvark is gray.

Edit: Would people stop calling it an "F1-11"? The motherbuggering dash goes before the numbers, people.

Well some ppl dont talk about it

SOB

There's a massive difference between not talking about a thing and not answering when asked about that thing, Spot. If you backpeddle any harder I might be temped to hook you up to a generator and solve the energy crisis.

Where exactly have i "back-pedalled"? I am saying none of you ppl know anything abotu me and you dont. Well you should but you obviously dont remember.

SOB

Spot, I've known you for six or seven years now and this is the first time I've ever heard of you 1. having been on or even near an F-111, and 2. having a wife.

Junior pilot and a senior nav, and a spectacular landing, it was all filmed by the various TV stations so the footage might be on youtube, well worth a look.  Smiley

When I think of SOB and his idiotic claim to have flown in an F111 i think of the book about the qantas A380 incident with the exploded engine and near catastrophe.

The pilot is a 5th generation pilot, trained in the air force, helicopter pilot in a war zone, personal attache to the governor-general for some time and HE couldn't get in the f111 program or even a ride in one.

yet SOB could because his 'wife worked on one'?

it just gets sillier!

you are on RECORD as saying that you twit. this entire thread is about your idiotic claims and the unbelievably stupid way you conduct yourself. a clever person when confronted with such a silly claim would just admit it or at least shut up, but not you. YOU have to just keep pushing that dumb claim more and more.
