Queensland liquor laws to be relaxed

The State Government is planning to lift the requirement for liquor permits at fundraising events for schools and community groups in Queensland.

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie says current regulations are complicated and unnecessary.

The legislation is expected to be introduced in Parliament this week.

The plan would also allow hospitals and nursing homes to serve two standard drinks per patient.

Also i thought patients in nursing homes were autonomous and could have alcohol if they wanted if it didnt interfere with their health? They can in NSW and ACT. . ..

Residents in nursing homes in QLD can already have alcohol if it doesn't interfere with their health, and if their family members buy it.

Why am I not surprised that you cannot pick up the subtle differences between these two statements. Being able to serve alcohol is different to permitting it to be brought in and consumed. Now that doesn't mean that nursing homes are going to set up a bar in the dinning room, but the article does not go into enough detail about what these change will be for you to then jump to the conclusion that the article is wrong.

"Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie says current regulations are complicated and unnecessary."

What's so complicated about 'No alcohol on school premises'?
