Will Gillard shut down turkey trade?
Mar 21st, 2013 at 5:47am

As you might recall Gillards knee jerk reaction to the animal export trade over cruelty to animals. Will she now step in and ban the Turkey trade in NSW as CCTV footage showed workers at the plant kicking birds, stomping on their heads and slamming them up against production line machinery.

No, & she won't even push for CCTV in slaughterhouses.
Do you know why???
Because moronic fools like yourself will have a fit when the INDUSTRY says prices will have to rise to cover the cost.
Better these sorts of things remain behind closed doors & you don't have to pay an extra 5 cents(if it would be even that much).
Why don't you start campaigning for ag-gag laws like they are now in the USA, then you'll never know & think your meat is a bargain.

Original poster completely misses the issues behind the temporary halt to exports referred to.

NSW is not a safe place for turkeys,  cruelty to turkeys has been going on for some time, just look at the last state election all those turkeys from the ALP kicked out of office.

Inghams have a lot to answer for. This cruelty would have been going on for years. Whoever is running that plant doesn't give a stuff about their job.

Years ago I occasionally bought their frozen products until I found a lump of faeces stuck to a piece of chicken. I should have reported it at the time, but didn't get around to it. It turned me off their products for life - as well as all frozen meat products.

The police and the RSPCA are involved in the prosecution of Inghams for shocking animal cruelty.  Government intervention wouldn't help much. The bad publicity should be enough for them to clean up their act and get some heavy penalties.
