Without the crippling media speculation of a Rudd challenge, I'm looking forward to a fairer fight.

Let's see how Abbott copes now that Gillard doesn't have one hand tied behind her back.

Your ability to try and see a positive in this weeks farce is nice but I feel a tad delusional.
It wouldn't matter what she does people have stopped listening and are biding their time until the election.

I don't under any circumstances want an Abbott PM and am highly skeptical of the line "they cant be any worse" but unfortunately Labor have destroyed any chance with this weeks sideshow. Angry

Without Crean flushing Rudd out, the Rudd/Gillard dynamic would have sucked most of the oxygen from the election campaign. Our economy is in good shape. Inflation is low, interest rates and mortgage payments have been reduced, household savings are growing, unemployment has been pegged at below 5.5% and labour productivity is growing along with real wages. The current government has brought us through some massive external shocks in very good shape. They are not an incompetent government.

This election can be won by Gillard if she can get the debate back on policy. Burning off Rudd has come at a cost, but long run the Labor Party is in a much better position to shift the fight to winning ground.

Everything you say is true, however truth and perception are 2 very different things.

The media campaign against everything that has been achieved has been solidified by this weeks events.

Abbott says the government is disfunctional, well they have just proven it.

and after their ludicrous suicide by media legislation, the media can now openly crucify them and be totally biased and who would blame them? you think they were biased before? wait until the real election when they can barely get their message reported, never mind positively so. It may not be fair but when some mob of scumbags come gunning for your business and the right of free press, 'fair' is a word off the table. and justifiably so.

little difference. we would have a civil war just the same but with different winners and losers but anyone and everyone in politics knows that disunity is death and the ALP has it in spades.

So no difference - business as usual, they have been full steam ahead driving for ragine change for 3 years now. The media have been an unofficial political player for years.

The bitter old witch Julie Bishop who hates children and families could do what Jewliar did to KRudd..

You have the wrong Juli(x). You need Juliar.

You need someone who is a lesbian. Has fought for lesbians. Someone who has changed shared parenting and made the family court more sexist. You need a misandrist. You need someone who has fought most of their adult life for the commie/socialists. You need someone who thinks kids mothers are prostitutes. Most of all, you need someone in a sham relationship with a gay man.

Why do you keep calling gillard a lesbian when she plainly is not?

They were already openly biased so nothing has changed. She seriously had nothing to lose.

Labor is in a much better position than it was a week ago. As long as Rudd remained an alternative, the media was not going to let it go. Abbott wants to use the divisions within the Labor party as a free pass. Well, Gillard is one tough Lady and there is no way she will forfeit to someone like Abbott. If Abbott wants to take the reins he is going to have to prove his competence.

Something his LNP minders are seriously worried about. With the Rudd distraction buried it's time for Gillard to prosecute the case against.

now that is just daft!!! the ALP splits down the middle into near open civil war and you say it is BETTER???

okay, you dont liek Rudd, we get it. But here is the unexploded bomb that may go off any minute. Rudd is immensely popular with the people and his popularity alone has kept some people supporting labor in the hope that he will take over again. well that hope is now terminated. So what do these people do now? they vote liberal.
