Quite simple Peter; the John Howard solution and the way New Zealand is handling it with aplomb, you should relate to that.
The NZ P.M. said, "you're not coming here!"
End of story, if they turn up, refuel, give them provisions then take the f....out of Australian waters courtesy of the R.A.N.
Watch the river of boats dry up.
Firstly, Red, how many boats by-pass Aust. to go straight to NZ?
Secondly, just how do you propose that this would be accomplished?
Give them a nudge with the pointy end of your RAN ship
Tie a rope to their bow and tow them away?
What do you do when you stop nudging, or towing, and they turn around?
Give another little nudge, or tow?
And while you are doing all this 'nudging and towing', what about the other boats that sail past while you are thus occupied??
