its not even remotely unique. they are JUST footballers. what about other sporting bodies or do we only support the ones that are popular? what about boxing? motor sport? what about swimmers? they are too old by 27!

to be a consistent policy it would have to be for ALL careers that have early ends. so you can see it now... kids leaving school choosing careers based on how quick they are over.

you would have to be the last person imaginable who would support this nonsense.

lack of education, planning, brains or drive. None of whic is my problem or any different to anyone else. A surgeon can have a minor hand or eye injury and his career is over. do we have to include them in the list?

Sorry, cannot agree, I'm sure they know this when they start their careers. Lots of efforts in clubs to facilitate trades and (post sport) career development - these guys want for nothing (except intelligence and humility it could be argued) so IMO this topic is a total wankfest.

Exactly..........in football, where large salaries are received by young persons, enables them to set themselves up for the time they will no longer draw the same level of income.

Very few people, I expect, maintain the same level of income throughout their working lives.........some earn the big bikkies while youth is on their side.......others do not maximise their earning potential until middle age.

Nope......disagree with the tax breaks suggested by Katter....pay tax on what you are earning at the time whether it's at 20 or 50.....

not everyone that doesn't dedicate their life to sport dedicates it to their qualifications ... lets face it, most footballers don't have the brains to do anything else worthwhile. They have a choice in life as does everyone else .. they go into sport knowing full well it is a short career however they do so knowing that if successful the benefits far outweigh the negatives ... lets face it, most of these guys earn at least 3 or 4 times what they would otherwise earn and in the case of soccer players they can earn 30 to 40 times what they could otherwise expect ... why don't we make the same argument for actors? many spend years waiting tables etc waiting for that big break, and when they get it their careers are often short lived. ...

There are alot of people and a hell of alot more reasons to not want to worry about politics, all the way down to how money is spent.

We are the sad FcKs who come here and speak, think, live with politics on our minds. We are the people who need to wake these people up from time to time.

There has been atleast 2 times in my adult life, that I felt like having the easy life. NO STRESS. No dam politics. Just me, me and my wife and peace. Dam, make that a 3rd time.
