This is not a debate about if you think it's right or wrong

Currently we don't have gay marriages. A change in the law would benefit the voters

So do you want gay marriages?

If you vote yes - how does it change you or the ability to feed and clothed your family

If no - then you've voted for the status quo.

I vote no gay marriages

It does not impact me so why should I vote yes?

Must I vote yes to everything that does not impact me because someone is going to call me names?

If the Greens believe in this sooooo strongly - let them make this their election centre-piece

If Wong believes in this soooo strongly - let her make this the centre-piece at the next election

No political party will do it!!!

Not even the Greens.

Gay marriages is a second thought now because the Greens leader is not gay!!

It may not affect you now but what about when your kid comes to you and says he wants to marry his boyfriend? Would that impact you?

Wouldn't affect me.

What my adult children do is their own business.

Good for you. You must mistake me for someone that gives a bugger about your opinion. I don't care if gays get married or not, that's just it, it's none of mine or your  business.

Correct.  That's exactly why you replied.

Thank you.

It is not compulsory for Australian citizens to enrol and vote while overseas.

Admit you are wrong whenever you like Spot.

Then again, given your current performance in the F111 thread, I won't hold my breath.

Not sure how it would, but I'll take your word for it.

So do you want gay marriages?
If it brings happiness to those that do, and really pisses bigots off then 'Yes'.

If you vote yes - how does it change you or the ability to feed and clothed your family
Makes no difference.

If no - then you've voted for the status quo.
Says who? You??

I vote no gay marriages
If as you say above, 'A change in the law would benefit the voters', Why not??

It does not impact me so why should I vote yes?
O.K. Jack!!

Must I vote yes to everything that does not impact me because someone is going to call me names?
Everyone does that now.

If the Greens believe in this sooooo strongly - let them make this their election centre-piece
Whyyyyyyy Notttttt!!

If Wong believes in this soooo strongly - let her make this the centre-piece at the next election
Send her an email. Just might keep you otherwise occupied for a while.

No political party will do it!!!
Not even the Greens.
Give it time!

Gay marriages is a second thought now because the Greens leader is not gay!!
In your, no doubt, honest opinion.

If you don't want gay marriages, don't have one.

In NZ, we were told by conservatives and the Christian churches that civil unions would be the end of civilisation. The institution of marriage would be undermined, they screamed, though none of them could explain why.

The fact that two gay people could have their love for each other publicly recognised didn't impact on my love for my wife or hers for me.

The hysteria of many conservatives over this issue would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Gay rights advocates have applauded declarations of support for same-sex marriage by Tony Abbott's daughters, saying they hope the remarks will help the Opposition Leader's views ''evolve''.

What on earth does the ability to feed my family have to do with my views on a social issue such as this?

What a ridiculous attempt at an argument maqqa. You have outdone yourself this time.

Because what it comes down to is the individual family unit

Most people are more worried about cost of living

So lets vote on the issue based on that and see if we get a majority

now you want to dictate why people should vote for something? If you are merely concerned for your family unit, you go for it, but many others, myself included, don't see this as having anything to do with my family unit .. as far as I'm concerned this is a social issue and one of equality ... as such I'll vote accordingly.

Is that the Greens agenda?

They want to dictate?

David Cameron is a member of the Greens?   Grin..good one Maqqa  Grin

David Cameron is one more of these decisions away from losing my vote.

A South African living in America gets to vote in the UK?

How does that work, Andrei?

Because I am not South African.
Am a British citizen and removed myself from the AU roll?

so you gave up your Australian citizenship?

Cutting grants on research into shale oil fracking processes, cutting grants into P3 tax credits on innovative energy delivery, cutting grants into upstream process refinement - all of which result in better processes in the Australian sector is not welfare!!!!!!

Those grants are intrinsic into energy delivery in Australia.

Cutting them for a short term political surplus is disgraceful.

Why would you cut them and force the expense wholesale onto companies?

Because i believe in a market based system ... don't you? if comapnies want the profit they shouldn't expect govt. subsidies .
It is merely your opinion that the results will be better for Australia , not mine ... I think any sort of fracking is bad for the country long term .. they should never let companies do it let alone give them money to do so ... you want better processes in Australia, move away from oil and gas based energy supply and move onto newer technologies ... then you can claim to have Australias interests at heart ... you are just worried about the few million $$$ your comapny stands to make .. don't pretend you care for Australias well being.

It's not opinion.
Results over the last decade -
+ Pollutant loss into the ocean
+ Deeper dive technique and exploration
+ Fracking refinement and lower seisemic echoes
+ Smoother upstream capture

All of that data has improved over the last decade - to the benefit of Australia.
If the Australian Government wants better processes and better energy capture, then it should wear some of the costs.

It's simple common sense.

Australia stands to gain hugely from process improvements.

why don't you put up some of the negatives? afraid of the truth? ... I understand why you don't care if we have gasses leaking from out water taps, since you don't live here, it doesn't affect you , but I care.

As for the greens, their position hasn't changed. Their wish is still for the legalisation of marriage between two consenting adults regardless of sex, sexuality or gender identity.

The incest lobby couldn't agree more.

If you see no difference between a gay relationship and an incestuous relationship, you shouldn't be left alone with children, chicken lips.

I can't believe sensible people spend more than 1 second contemplating a pair of poofters playing husband and wife.

If they want to play that nonsense, that's their business.
Come Judgement Day they will have to answer for their depravity.

But sensible, decent societies should play no part in pretending its normal or acceptable.

It also affects such a small minority to be irrelevant.
So tell them no, shut the bugger up, go play your Kylie, wear some women's panties and get over it - in Iran you'd be shot.

Kylie is pretty bad, granted, but being shot is a bit over the top.

Taylor Swift, on the other hand ...

Google "Portman Kunis Black Swan".

But Natalie Portman is not gay.

So she hasn't been outed, then!!!
