It's an interesting example, but it comes down to what many have said - marriage was set up between men and women, and was designed that way.

There are countless arguments around the issue, but as many also have said - living toge3ther gives equal rights in property etc.

A gay friend years ago had to pay out his live-in when they broke up when the live-in went after part of his home, and the idea of it being companionship is moot - you can have all that without a formal piece of paper.

All that did historically was create an easily enforced legal bond on the parties - something that has been superceded by law as practiced these days.

There is really no argument for gay marriage other than why not... not sufficient in itself since it is a negative.

It works like this: back in the 1960s gays went on promiscuity bender (if you will forgive the term) as their habits were decriminalised between consenting adults. It also became public knowledge that they disparage straight couple as “mere breeders.” Of course that included their parents. And the term is still in use today.

As that generation grew older and a little less intoxicated with their new found freedom they discovered that much of society still viewed them as neurotics and perverts. Its no wonder really, because at beaches in town like Mykonos and Provincetown Mass. Etc you could get an anonymous blowjob at almost any time of day for free.

For their own self-respect they had to find a way to force normal people to accept them. This could only be done with some comparison to heterosexual life that would be legally binding. Thus they could sue for defamation of character if they got called suck-boys and poofters. Gay marriage will create that legal situation, and to complete the legal framework they are about to campaign for full child adoption rights as they will be recognised by the law as a family.

My oldest male friend is gay and very forthright. What he has told me about that world is slightly nauseating.

Well, I think "Gay Marriage" is perfectly ok, with one little proviso.

I think they should go ahead with legalizing "Gay Marriage" & end discrimination once & for all providing they legalize Polygamy.
Why should they discriminate if a man, or a woman for that matter, wishes to take on multiple spouses?
