This institution has changed many times, to which do you propose we stick to?  How far back do we go?

Most recent one I think was in the 90's, when marital rape was finally considered a crime throughout Australia.  Before that certain people required permission to get married.

In the past , women surrendered all their belongings to their husband upon getting wed.

Which definition of marriage do you think is the "traditional" one?

There is really no argument for gay marriage other than why not... not sufficient in itself since it is a negative.

There is really no argument against gay marriage other then "I don't like it"...  not sufficient in itself since it is a negative.

Sure there is, you're just not interested in hearing them.  Nuance does not sit well with drones.

Now that's one fine counter-argument that disposes of my argument that the demand for gay marriage is based on a negative... that negative being 'why not' ALONE.

You haven't refuted why that it is so...

To oppose gay marriage requires one to have knowledge of the institution, to consider it's history and it's purpose. And then to maintain the courage of ones convictions in the face of vicious opposition.

To support gay marriage only requires one to accept the media narrative, in the form of cheap slogans such as "it is time".

No surprise then, what the masses choose.

You really need to get over this Honky. You sound like an old man trying to hide his stuck in the mud bigotry with grandiose expressions of noble motives for maintaining his backward beliefs. You remember, they were the same people who were telling us that the Beatles were wrong to have long hair.  Same lame manufactured excuses about tradition and respect. And now you come up with "this issue requires a well grounded knowledge of the sacred institution of marriage".  Oh, go jump in the lake. It's none of your business. No ones telling you to get married to anyone and you and the churches of all persuasions dont own the institution of marriage.  Marriage existed way before any religion we know of today.

I'm not sure it was the right decision, or to be more precise, it was executed poorly.  All a woman brings to a marriage is her vagina and womb - what a lousy deal for the bloke if he doesn't get a damn thing for a lifetime of servitude.  Of course "rape" is a term used much more loosely now.

Who did and why?

What belongings did a 20 year old fertile woman have to "surrender"?

I am married, and I did so for the very reason marriage exists as an institution.  Not because I require societal recognition of my emotions, or so I can have a day all about meeeeee  - to provide a stable family environment for my kids to grow up in.

Is this honestly your view?  I think you are just trolling at this point.

Clearly you are under the impression women do not work.

Also under the impression that a piece of paper allows you to rape someone without consequences, which is quite frankly creepy and disturbing.

Well, they're highly overpaid for what they do.  50% of a dudes net worth is not a fair price for 10 hours housework a week.

Well, Genuine rape is not ever OK, but sex was considered "wifely duties", and infertility was grounds for divorce for good reasons.

What sort of contract allows one party to abrogate all responsibilities, while still allowing them all their entitlements and rights?  One that's not worth the paper it's printed on, that's what.

Yes.  And?
Marriage is not your institution to dictate how it is to be done and who is allowed to participate. You need to get that in your head.
