The alternative is to turn a blind eye to extramarital affairs.

Humanism - the startling philosophy that men are humans and actually have rights!

Sits back, cracks a stubbie, grabs a handful of ALDI cashews, and awaits the clown who'll inevitably come in here and say that even suggesting that men have rights means I'm saying men have rights to rape.. not in what I've written.. but some love that kind of mental confusion in themselves...

A wise man would also understand that a woman's load OF WASHING increases every time she said yes to said man.

Bit less time on the telephone and at the coffee club and should be more than enough time to do the dishes , washing and to service her mans needs.

Spent a few days in Vienna on the way home, and it was around 30 degrees! Shocked

The only concerns I have still about gay marriage is concerning children and that is only because of the stereotypical notion/concerns that most gay men are also peadophiles- someone corrtect me on that one..I want you too.

I voted in favour of gay marriage.

Oh puhlease... being in love with someone doesn't give you the right to marry them nor does it naturally follow that they will want to marry you.
Marriage is about more than just love. Roll Eyes

I think initially it is about love and then other considerations are thrown into the mix.. if you dont marry for love you set yourself up for a lifetime of unhappiness uuumm Grendel. Tongue

If marriage is first and foremost about love, ask yourself why your emotions need societal and legal recognition.

Society at large doesn't care if you're in love. It has no bearing on anything outside your self. The world does not revolve around you and your feelings.

However, society does benefit from having children looked after in a stable home. That is the reason why the institution was conceived and why it has persisted for millennia. That people generally don't start families with someone they don't love means there is usually some crossover, but claiming it's all about love is extremely narcissistic and self centred. It is putting the cart before the horse. And with todays attention seeking culture, revolving around how many likes your photos get on facebook and instagram, there may not even be a horse.

If you want your day in the sun, that's fine. It's nice for you, your family and friends, but don't expect society at large to give a damn.

An aberration.

Despite millions of years of evolution, you still get albinos, dwarfs, all sorts of physical and mental illnesses and deformities and aberrations.

Humanity is made up of by men and women. Its existence depends on heterosexual sex and the protection of the offsprings for an extraordinarily long time before they become self-sufficient. All sorts of traits and institutions have evolved for the purpose of maintaining societal continuity. Marriage, as an institution, is one of the most important ones for the purpose.

Gay weddings mean nothing for societal continuity. It is just a silly and somewhat distasteful appropriation of an institution for the purposes of normalising aberration.

because the govt. has to stick it's beak into everything we do. Without the legal recognition claiming you are married to your wife is no different to those nut cases claiming they were married to an alien that had abducted them. Married people want to know that if something happens to them, their partners are recognised as their partners and get all the perks that go with that, over and above any other relationships that may exist.
