Abbott forecasts Flannery job loss

    AAP
    April 03, 2013

FEDERAL Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has forecast a job loss for chief climate commissioner Tim Flannery if the coalition wins power at the next election.     Huh

And he says climate change and carbon tax bureaucracies set up by the Labor government would also go under a coalition government when it abolishes the carbon tax.

When asked on Macquarie Radio on Wednesday if Professor Flannery would be "consigned to the wastepaper basket of bureaucracy", Mr Abbott said he thought there were four climate and carbon tax bureaucracies in place.

"When the carbon tax goes, all of those bureaucracies will go and I suspect we might find that the particular position you refer to goes with them," he told broadcaster Ray Hadley.

"It does sound like an unnecessary position given that the gentleman in question gives us the benefit of his views without needing taxpayer funding," Mr Abbott said.

Australian Greens leader Christine Milne said it was another extreme policy from Mr Abbott, who in the past had labelled the science of climate change as "crap".

"Frankly, all of his policies are in line with that view," Senator Milne told reporters in Canberra.     Sad

I can't see it as extreme. You would expect Milne to say so but that counts for less than nothing.
Flannery is not a scientist, he's a politician spruiking a particular world view which becomes more discredited as time goes on . . .as some of us realised it would.
To the bin with him!

It was a stupid question - the Libs will never miss the opportunity to sack someone - anyone or everyone.

It is just what they do the best.

How is it 'extreme' to implement a basic policy? or is it just considered extreme when it differs from the ACTU position?

Who said they were but here we have a Liberal not even elected and he is already threatening everyone he can with the boot.

Imagine if we were stupid enough to actually elect him, Newman all over again.

I would think the pleasure that the conservatives always get from sacking people for no real gain is pretty extreeme.

and if there were any actual evidence of that it might be of some value.
