Where would we be if.........

Howard had not repaid 96 billion of debt accumulated 20Billion in the bank??

Say Howard ran a deficit along the same lines of Swan, say 20 Billion a year in the red.

Would that then put us in a bad position??

How would we be going if we wer 400B in debt???

Given the external situation and the internal demand driven growth fuelled by a massive explosion in private debt, we should have been much further in the black. Costello wasnt half the treasurer many like to pretend he was.

Wolf wolf, perhaps you should read the IMF report that damns Howard for his fiscal profligacy.

And don't get me started on the massive infrastructure deficit and the cancerous middle class welfare legacy that he has left for all future governments.

OK so letrun with Costello was a poo treasurer.

Say he accumulated debt at the same rate as Swan.

How much would we be in, and would that figure be an issue?? say it was 400billion as that would be roughly where it would be?

we'd be paying 80 billion a year in interest or 6.5 billion a month??

how good would that be?

We would be where we are now. In labors perpetual debt.

The only way to stop it, is never to vote labor in ever again.

Remember that at every single election you ever vote at. State or federal.

China still would have had its massive boom and whoever was in power would have begun to pay the debt off remembering that the debt was also from the Menzies through to Fraser years.
Libbo propaganda doesnt stand up very well to scrutiny  Grin

PS what govt was the first to have a surplus?..Labor or Liberal?

So you'd have no problems if we were 400+ Billion in debt if Howrd had ran deficits along the same lines as Swan?

my question wasn't about who was in power would have paid off the debt, Today Gillard said Costello shouldn't have paid it off but spent it?

More certainly should have been invested in infrastructure. But that could have been achieved by cutting back on some of the middle class welfare and blatant pork barrelling.

If Howard hAd wasted the sale of Telstra and not repaid a debt during great economic conditions then he wouldn't have just been known as a lying rodent, but also a dumb lying rodent.

Yeh its a shame there wasnt more for labor to pizz in the wind. I mean, leaving zero debt, a future fund and a surplus, just isnt enough for these labor fools is it.
