What can aussies possibly sell to china ?
Apr 6th, 2013 at 11:28am

I see gillard is over in china with her rag tag bunch of delegates Andrew Forrest, Lindsay Fox trying to drum up some business with china Cheesy LOL

Get it through your thick head gillard. Apart from a pile of minerals, resources, education services and property, china isn't interested in anything else from australia. Nothing nada !!

Does gillard honestly think that china is going to pay through the nose for legal and financial services from australia ?? Only desperate aussies pay through the nose for those services.

And what the bugger was lindsay fox doing there as well ?

The chinese are only interested in resources, education and buying up property. Other than that forget about making a quid out of china. They are just not that stupid to want to get ripped off by aussies !!

The truckie and the miner headed off to China......

Andrew Forrest, one of Gillard's harshest critics re the mining tax, and now he's bedded up with her in China, something smells fishy, no?

Twiggy might be paying Gillard to help him get some Chinese investment, the Chinese stock exchange????? he's lost a sh1te load of wealth, hasn't he?

I doubt she's selling them anything, maybe a bit of brown-nosing after the foreign relationships gaffes of the past.

The chinese know the value of education so they are not going to listen to a high school dropout who was on a current affairs once boasting how you can be successful driving trucks around with a minimal education.

I bet you he does. Does he stay around long enough to see what they do with the minerals such as adding value to them ??

because aussies just don't get it. Part of chinas success is adding value to raw materials and selling it back to us at a hugely inflated price Wink

I would hardly say "hugely inflated",the cost of chinese imports into this country is rapidly declining while in the long term the price we sell our raw materials at is increasing. Our high standard of mliving in this country is largely based on cheap chinese imports not expensive ones. We could never hope to compete with china in regards to adding value, we would have to lower our labour costs to thiers.

This is why I think everyone here in Australia needs to take a pay cut, from the low-wage labourers to the fat-cat CEOs. It's like having more energy-efficient light bulbs. There needs to be a shift from improving our quality of life and living like kings (relative to developing countries) to sacrificing some comfort so that our employers won't have to pay us as much. We need to make ourselves cheaper to the rest of the world.

Australia and NZ are the last two nations that produce pasture based foods - meat, dairy etc.

We also have some of the cleanest waterways in the world - ideal for seafood.

Germany is the worlds biggest exporter - even bigger than China who is second.

Germany has very few resources, and yet can export 1st class products and services

That's the model Australia should attempt to emulate - but alas us dumb aussies prefer to follow the USA with its junk trash culture of waste and individualism.

Australia is the dumbest nation on the planet - even our energy and mining resources are 83% foreign owned. We have handed out billions of dollars in tax payers money to foreign auto manufacturing corporations in the USA and Japan just so they can make a few cars here

Australia = Dumb

It makes me wonder what was really so bad about WorkChoices. Could WorkChoices have helped us compete with China?

neither could germany but they are still a major industrial power house exporting goods all around the world. Have you seen the premium quality german cars on our roads and even on chinese roads ? How come ? Germany actually makes things whereas australia just talks about it and then imports it in the end Sad

Australians are good at manufacturing excuses not to manufacture anything Sad
