People should be given alternative life style choices to being a wage slave in the capitalist system.

Is that crazy talk? Of course not. Many dream of a rural, self sufficirnt life style. Yet the land of the Ord river has been given to the Chinese rather than allocation to Australians who'd jump at the opportunity to be part of something different. Land is one thing Australia has plenty of, but all governments do is steal back public open space to give to developers.

Prison farms are Kibbutz, but by their nature they cost a fortune per head to run. It would cost very little to set up such communities where people could live voluntarily.

Water - many would shout. But much of Australia is turning to desert because there's too much waterm rising in the ground and bringing salt. Taking salt out of water isn't rocket science. Israel runs an agricultural economy using salt water. Solar energy is free energy. There's limitless possibilities once you step out of the box.

I do not believe that to be the case Borg.

Quote:
Australia had only 166,000 vacant jobs in November, down from 193,000 two years earlier. More than 600,000 Australians were looking for work.

How many looking for jobs?

SOB

Hellooooo swagman! are you trying to ignore this?

SOB

Swagman you need to acknowledge this so we can move on and you can stop saying that everyone can "get a job".

I actually think that it should be considered for long term unemployed. Although I would be against them being sent overseas on active deployment

Well how about we send an IGNORANT old bugger like you John Smith overseas for service in the Army

Unemployed people in this country need employment, they are stopped archiveing this by other Ignorant elitists out there stopping them from getting the employment available.

get off your high horse you moron. What is wrong with enlisting the long term unemployed? Spend years unable to find a job and you quickly start to feel worthless and unwanted, enlistment can give you a sense of accomplishing something and of belonging.

Whilst I'm not a believer of the dole bludger stereotype, there are many long term unemployed who ARE out there by choice. Don't try to tell me it's bull$hit because I actually know a few of them. One guy I know has 5 kids and quit his job years ago because he can get more money on the dole. I've worked with department of housing tenants for 15 yrs and saw many 2nd and 3rd generation unemployed with a sense of entitlement. They saw no reason to even look for a job because they felt the govt. owed them.

Sure, there is no blanket solution that will fix everything, but shoving your head in the sand and pretending you are a victim isn't going to fix anything.

What a ridiculous idea, to force people into the army.  One that certainly should not be allowed.  No one should be forced into the  armed services.     Sad

They can also get killed. Nobody should be forced to take a job where there is a good chance they will be killed - especially if they disagree with it.

Don't panic crook, no-one is going to make you join up.  Grin

I can assure you the ADF does not want a bunch of useless retards, cluster smacking the system.

The best place for the useless is on the dole not in the ADF; it is not the dumping ground for d1ckheads.

I like many who have actually served are against compulsory service, but for very different reasons than yourself.

Spoken from your vast military experience spot?

And you wonder why we called you out on your bullsh1t claim of service.

All your military knowledge comes from comics and movies, no doubt about it.

I run training courses on water including salinity. Your understanding of the problem is pitiful and hopelessly naive.
