Where is God???
Apr 12th, 2013 at 11:56am

For many years I have prayed and asked God to come into my life and I am still waiting.  Where is God?  Am I not one of His chosen?

Your thoughts?

Who dafuq are you to ask anything of God?  Just be thankful it hasn't yet smitten you for your insolence.

Numbers 16:5
And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

Psalms 33:18
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

Psalms 25:10
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Psalms 78:56
Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:i

James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
...
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Q.
How does a man of flesh 'draw nigh', to a holy God ???

Its not rocket science.
[.....but it is difficult for any 'man of flesh' to do.]

1 Thessalonians 5:22
Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Leviticus 20:7
Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.

Proverbs 15:9
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Proverbs 17:15
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Hosea 12:6
Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment,....

Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 28:4
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5  Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Again....
James 4:8
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you....

Perhaps  those that have the big 'life changing' experience of christianity needed their lifes to be changed ?

Perhaps God likes you as you are.

Quote:
.....The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”........

It either looks like you're demanding a personal visit from God or this is just another transparent challenge to his existence.

Good enough reason not to expect a visit from anyone, least of all God. And how is it that you are so sure that God isn't already involved in your life?

I dont even believe in god and think that is a dumb(too obviously trollish) question.

You have to come up with something a little more original. Keep it atleast within the framework of the believers.

You ask a question that is completely ignorant of the faith. Showing your ignorance to something shows you are not smart enough to ask the question.

In answer to your the words in the question "where is god", he is inside an egg shell.

No, not a trolling question - I save those for Yahoo! lol.  My interest is in spirituality (hence recently joining ozpol) and I'm interested in how some can be so certain of knowing God while others like myself spend a life time searching and not recognising God in our life.

Not specific to any one religion.  More just a sense of "God" in our lives.  How do some know that.  Why do others of us (according to many religions) spend eternity roasting on the fork of the evil one, when we have lived ordinary lives outside of a personal knowledge of God!  Even when we have craved that relationship.

For those of you who replied offering bible verses. Thanks - however my question remains.  Actually I currently attend a bible study run by the presbyterians in the town I live in.  They are all born again Christians. I'm still deciding.

And I find answers via the bible hard to digest IF I don't first have the faith to believe it.  If that makes sense?  I'm no scholar and struggle with expression (which might be why I sound like I'm trolling) but I ask questions at a level that I'm searching at.

How (aside from bible quotes) do people know that God is in their life?  What do they sense or feel etc???  I'm not asking for a vision of God - just a knowledge beyond a book.

Prior to reading the bible did you sense God in your life?  Or was it a change based on faith only with no actual sense of God at a personal level?  I'm not sure how to word this.  Hopefully some of you will get what I am asking.

"That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:"

We, do not 'find' God.

It is God who reveals himself to us, because [or when] he wants to know us.

The question which you [and anyone else] have to ask is, 'why' [does he] ?

As i said in my post above; 'Its not rocket science.'

And God, is no ogre.

But seriously, if anyone wants to 'discover' God, i suggest that they 'make the first move' by choosing to read the bible.      [try starting with the book of Psalms and the book of Proverbs.]

It worked for me.

If you are really seeking God - ask Him to come into your heart. Confess the Lord Jesus Christ. Let someone know (perhaps the church that you already mentioned) that you have made this commitment.

Then, sadly, stand by for the ridicule, jeering, sneering, etc that you will receive - as is already being seen here.

It does take guts to be a Believer. Easier not being one.

I trust that you take that all important step.
