Boston marathon bombs: Tamerlan Tsarnaev 'interviewed by FBI in 2011'
The FBI interviewed one of the Boston marathon bombing suspects in 2011 at the request of a foreign government, reports have claimed.

Officials told the Associated Press, Reuters and CNN that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died in a shootout with police outside Boston on Friday morning, was interviewed by federal officers.
The matter was closed when it did not produce any incriminating information.
One official told AP that the FBI shared its information with the foreign government. The official did not say what country made the request about Tamerlan Tsarnaev or why.
The 26-year-old's younger brother Dzhokhar, also a suspect in Monday's bombings that killed three people and wounded scores more, has been taken into custody after a dramatic confrontation with police.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev died of bullet wounds and injuries from explosives strapped to his body, a hospital doctor said.

"Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart
Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast"

Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.

The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of hours of tape recordings that Mr. Salem secretly made of his talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as being in a far better position than previously known to foil the February 26th bombing of New York City's tallest towers.

The explosion left six people dead, more than a thousand people injured, and damages in excess of half-a-billion dollars. Four men are now on trial in Manhattan Federal Court [on charges of involvement] in that attack.

Mr. Salem, a 43-year-old former Egyptian Army officer, was used by the Government [of the United States] to penetrate a circle of Muslim extremists who are now charged in two bombing cases: the World Trade Center attack, and a foiled plot to destroy the United Nations, the Hudson River tunnels, and other New York City landmarks. He is the crucial witness in the second bombing case, but his work for the Government was erratic, and for months before the World Trade Center blast, he was feuding with the F.B.I.

Supervisor `Messed It Up'

After the bombing, he resumed his undercover work. In an undated transcript of a conversation from that period, Mr. Salem recounts a talk he had had earlier with an agent about an unnamed F.B.I. supervisor who, he said, "came and messed it up."

"He requested to meet me in the hotel," Mr. Salem says of the supervisor.

"He requested to make me to testify, and if he didn't push for that, we'll be going building the bomb with a phony powder, and grabbing the people who was involved in it. But since you, we didn't do that."

The transcript quotes Mr. Salem as saying that he wanted to complain to F.B.I. Headquarters in Washington about the Bureau's failure to stop the bombing, but was dissuaded by an agent identified as John Anticev.

Mr. Salem said Mr. Anticev had told him,

"He said, I don't think that the New York people would like the things out of the New York Office to go to Washington, D.C."

Another agent, identified as Nancy Floyd, does not dispute Mr. Salem's account, but rather, appears to agree with it, saying of the `New York people':

"Well, of course not, because they don't want to get their butts chewed."

The problem is these second rate Countries who have been fighting against each other for centuries are now infecting other societies with their zealot ways.

They are and have been basket cases usually run by second rate dictators then we the modernised world have to suffer their inadequacies. The Muslim religion is used as an excuse to send bombers into innocent victims then blow them sky high.

I am not blaming the religion but the misuse of it and how they get the suicide bombers motivated, by promising them glory on the other side.

The latest example came with motivation from Chechnya a second rate Russian entity.

Now they wage terror against the west. I wish they would go back to fighting each other...Flyblown crapholes that they are.

President Barack Obama faces pressure to declare the only surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing investigation an enemy combatant as the US government defends the FBI against claims it failed to properly acknowledge possible terrorist connections.
While Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, remains in hospital and unable to speak, calls grow for the President to allow investigators to question him without normal protections afforded by the criminal justice system.
This would occur if Mr Obama was to declare Tsarnaev an enemy combatant, therefore permitting investigators to conduct the interview without legal representation for Tsarnaev.
The Obama government has previously said domestic terrorism suspects should be dealt with in the criminal justice system and the Boston bombing case is shaping as a test of this declaration.


Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, 26 – killed during a tense and hours-long gun battle with police – spent six months in the Caucasus republic of Dagestan in 2012. The Tsarnaev brothers are Chechen nationals and Tamerlan was flagged as a possible Islamic terrorist in 2011.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is leading the charge to have Dzhokar Tsarnaev declared an enemy combatant for interrogation purposes.
"Most Americans want to find out what he knew, who he associated with, does he know about terrorist organisations within or without the country that are trying to hurt us? Does he know about a future attack?" Senator Graham asked on CNN.
He later told the New York Times: "You can't hold every person who commits a terrorist attack as an enemy combatant, I agree with that. But you have a right, with his radical Islamist ties and the fact that Chechens are all over the world fighting with al-Qaeda — I think you have a reasonable belief to go down that road, and it would be a big mistake not to go down that road. If we didn't hold him for intelligence-gathering purposes, that would be unconscionable."
Fellow Republican Saxby Chambliss said the case was not an ordinary one and a brief interrogation allowed under usual US criminal justice rules was insufficient.
"Given what we know, and more importantly don't know, about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother, this terrorist should be fully interrogated as an enemy combatant before any consideration is given to providing Miranda warnings [the right to remain silent]," he said in a statement.
"I urge this administration to do the right thing and deem this suspect as an enemy combatant so that we get as much intelligence as legally possible before the suspect is Mirandised."
Democrats, though, are more circumspect. "I very much regret the fact that there are those that want to precipitate a debate over whether he's an enemy combatant or whether he is a terrorist, a murderer, et cetera," said Senator Dianne Feinstein.
"There's going to be a great deal of evidence put together to be able to convict [him], and it should likely be a death penalty case under federal law."
An unnamed Justice Department source told the Los Angeles Times that the White House was not considering declaring Tsarnaev an enemy combatant.
The death penalty does not apply in Massachusetts, but a spokeswoman for Boston's Attorney-General said Tsarnaev would be tried under federal law – which allows the death penalty for murders committed during acts of terrorism.
An unnamed senior law enforcement official told the New York Times that the Russian government feared Tamerlan Tsarnaev could be a risk, and "they had something on him and were concerned about him, and him travelling to their region".
But the FBI never followed up on Tamerlan once he returned, the source acknowledged, adding that its investigation did not turn up anything and it did not have the legal authority to keep tabs on him. Investigators are now scrambling to review that trip, and learn about any extremists who might have influenced, trained or directed Tamerlan while he was there, the newspaper reported.
The Republican chair of Congress's homeland security committee, Michael McCaul, said the FBI had questions to answer. Six months after Tamerlan returned to the US, he reportedly posted jihadist videos on YouTube.
"Clearly something happened in that six-month timeframe. He radicalised at some point," Senator McCaul told CNN.
"If he was on the radar and they let him go, he's on the Russians' radar, why wasn't a flag put on him, some sort of customs flag? And I'd like to know what intelligence Russia has on him as well."
But former FBI agent and now Republican senator Mike Rogers said of the bureau: "I don't think they missed anything." He added that the FBI had little, if any, evidence to act on.
The FBI's only comment thus far has been to say it did not find any terrorism activity after speaking to Tamerlan Tsarnaev and examining his travel records.

Do whatever it takes to give this bastard the death penalty. That 8 year old boy didn't have a prayer, nor the others. Don't give him one. Give him nothing. Give him the death penalty, just like he and his brother gave the death penalty to three victims and a life sentence to the amputees.
