How can we bring negligent and irresponsible polit
Apr 22nd, 2013 at 12:53pm

In posting this;
I'm thinking about what 'state' the federal government coffers will be in, when this present government is removed......

IF THE PROMISES WHICH POLITICIANS >> USED << [ <--- past tense!!!!], TO GET ELECTED INTO GOVERNMENT, WERE NEGLIGENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE PROMISES, should politicians be made accountable [for making what can be proven to be, negligent and irresponsible promises] - after they leave office ?

And if the stewardship of politicians in office was negligent and irresponsible [and their stewardship can be proven to be, negligent and irresponsible], should politicians be made accountable - after they leave office ?

Made responsible how ?

Made 'accountable' how ?

e.g.
by losing all of their parliamentary entitlements, as past parliamentarians ?

e.g.
by losing all taxpayer contributions to their generous super entitlements ?

....and more ?

ESSENTIALLY, WHAT I AM ASKING IS;
How can we [the taxpayers who employ these buffoons] bring negligent and irresponsible politicians to heel ???

How can we [the taxpayers who employ these buffoons] make politicians accountable for their stewardship of this country ???

And remember, it is a stewardship which politicians clamour to achieve.

It is not an office which is 'imposed' upon them.

Dictionary;
steward = =
1 a person who looks after the passengers on a ship or aircraft.
2 a person responsible for supplies of food to a college, club, etc.
3 an official appointed to supervise arrangements at a large public event.
4 short for shop steward.
5 a person employed to manage another’s property, especially a large house or estate.

Dictionary;
negligence = = failure to take proper care over something.

Dictionary;
irresponsible = = not showing a proper sense of responsibility.

They have laws that apply to business leaders, why not similar corporations laws for Pollies ???

It would make them think about promises and budgetary credibility.

RightSadFred,

That would be a good start.

it is impossible for that to work...at the time of saying... said lie....it was the plan but like all plans things and events change them...the only punishment is not to FORGET and then vote accordingly next time round...

their punishment for failure....is being thrown out of office...which means some lose their job....its not that hard to figure out...

some forgive and forget  but that is changing

cods,

All you are really saying is that pollies can't be expected to keep their promises - coz the pollies do not know the future.

True.

What i am saying is that
the promises that pollies make [so as, to get elected] are clearly reckless promises.

And today, everyone knows that pollies will make reckless promises - so as to get elected.

>>>>>>>>>>
BUT, what i am saying is
, why shouldn't electors expect pollies to fulfil their PROMISES ???
<<<<<<<<<<

And, if 'everyone' knows that pollies can not be expected to to fulfil their promises to electors,
.....then shouldn't we, the electors, demand that pollies must be more circumspect in the promises the make ???

.....OTHERWISE, WE THE ELECTORS, WILL RIGHTLY SANCTION PENALTIES AGAINST YOUR POOR PERFORMANCE AS STEWARDS - AFTER YOUR TERM IN OFFICE IS FINISHED.i
We need to bring some accountability into government in this country.

And principally, that means we need to make pollies accountable for their conduct in parliament.
