well there are criticisisms from university professors who are probably the worst judges around. Then there is criticism from oakshott (enough said!). there was criticism that it would use more electricity and was therefore bad for the climate! There was a ZDNET article claiming the plan needed more analysis which was amusing since the labor NBN began with virtually none at all. gizmodo  takes a non-partisan view and considers it a good compromise.

most of the strident criticism is nothing more than opinion or the 'we want it fast and we want it free' crowd.

Im not seeing a lot of 'coalition NBN is crap'. most see it as what it is - a compromise between performance cost and delivery.  and most say it is more than fine.
