What is going to be a disability?
May 21st, 2013 at 2:17pm

This is the $64,000 question.
Is it for example going to include ADD and ADHD?
So called syndromes which have only appeared in recent years and which, when I was young, would have been cured by a few kicks in the backside by an appropriate adult.
I have serious fears about this scheme becoming a monster, open to plunder by today's litigation-dependent parents and doctors whose pime motivation is the ch-ching of the cash register.
Now that the hoop-la has finished, can we have some serious advice about what the scheme will & won't cover?

Thats pretty funny coming from the green loon party that created the children on manus problem in the first place  Grin

Vote Liberal next time, then there will be no children in detention and no thousands of drowned boat people either, the Liberal party is the compassionate party, the Greens like to play survivor boat person and watch the poor front bottoms drown at sea while fighting to get to centrelink.

Prefer these people processed in refugee camps in Indonesia and Malaysia and then flown into Australia.

Simple, safer, and logical.

Once in Australia, processed and integrated into the community as quickly as possible.

Since Greens are not the government yet, we have to find solutions to the mess of the old parties. The kids the old parties are crucifying on manus deserve medical assistance to decrease the damage the old party supporters have inflicted.

So what you're saying is its better for the kiddies to be smashed on the rocks and drowned than alive and well in Indonesia?

Who will be eligible?

An NDIS will work with people who have a permanent disability that significantly affects their communication, mobility, self-care or self-management to ensure that they get the support that is reasonable and necessary to meet their needs. This could include an individual plan and an individually funded package.

Individual support will also be given to people for whom there is good evidence that early intervention would substantially improve functioning (for example, autism, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy or sensory impairments), and those for whom early intervention will delay or lessen a decline in functioning (for example, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease).

Others will be able to use the scheme to get information about what supports they might be able to use in the community (for example community groups like sporting clubs) and from other government programs such as health, employment support and education.
