Living a peaceful life in Australia isn't that hard, we ask Muslims to integrate with us in the working environment - come and have a drink with us mate - no thanks, he says. You're offended, he doesn't want to come with you, he says he can't be around alcohol. So really, there's no way he's ever going to fit in. They don't understand our drinking culture, they think we are a mob of degenerates, but don't realize it's a phase that young people go through and come out the other side when they grow up.

I think it's true that Muslim kids are not accepted in Oz and I feel sorry for that, and can understand why they turn to crime but they don't fit in because of their religion that has rules against what we accept as everyday life. So sad.

He was a machine gunner with the Royal Fusiliers - and had served in Afghanistan.

We don't know yet whether the killers targeted specifically a soldier who had served in Afghanistan, or just any British soldier. Yes they have a shared religion with the people of Afghanistan, but that doesn't necessarily mean a "connection" in the context of this attack. Its quite possible they had no idea he had served in Afghanistan.
