The latest article suggests 5 times more likely, so yes, Andrei is a moron. But, what it does highlight to us is that Australia needs to do better with its assimilation programs, rather than as the moron suggests, simply not accept.

What article? There is nothing about that in the original article posted.

http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/few-asylum-seekers-charged-with-crime-20130228-2f98h.html

Are you talking about that article?

Quote:
Asylum seekers living in the community on bridging visas are about 45 times less likely to be charged with a crime than members of the general public.
Figures released to Fairfax Media by the department of immigration and citizenship show that since November 2011, 12,100 asylum seekers have been released into the community on bridging visas.
A department spokeswoman said that ''a handful'' - or five or less - had been charged with a crime. This equates to just 41.32 people per 100,000 people.

Because I dont quite think you have nailed the takeaway message.

I'm talking about this article: http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/african-youth-crime-concern-20120819-24glt.htm...
And a little calm pls because I think you're missing the point I'm making.

(1) This is me calm. Ask some of the more conservative assholes on here.
(2) http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-08-27/police-27zealots27-accused-of-targeting-africans2c-muslims/4225594
(3) "It is important to note that the overall proportion of crimes statewide committed by the Sudanese and Somali communities is only 0.92 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively, and that people arrested and charged may falsely identify themselves as being from those communities."
(4) I get your point, and agree with it., however, it is false that Asylum seekers commit more crimes than the wider public. Its just lies duder. Dont drink the koolaid.
(5) If cops are focusing on a specific group of people, no matter what the group, there will be higher crime stats, because cops are corrupt assholes who look after themselves above all else, and will lie cheat and steal in order to get their way.

It is a fact that there are corrupt cops.
It is a fact that other cops cover up for these corrupt cops
These are facts that can be expounded on in the appropriate thread.

It is a fact that you couldnt rebut my other points, which must mean they are true and correct.

It's not a unique problem to Australia. We have terrible black crime problems in the UK.

They represent 6 times more prison population per capita than British males.

They come from countries with little law and order, they've been exposed to violence, they have no respect.

So why let them in?
Why exposé yourself to potential crime when you keep them out and not have the problem?

Look at the Africans in Melbourne?
All collect in the same area, don't integrate with Australians, stick to themselves and make no effort to integrate.

Nope. They're no good.

Excellent editorial, Andrei.

There's now a huge black criminal underclass in the UK ~ just as commonsense predicted back in the 50's when I was in the UK.

Every time they show a documentary on TV here about British prisons the first thing you notice is the overwhelming number of blacks.

There was a very good we'll written study recently by Trevor Phillips.

It's called the Missing Black Father.

That black kids are growing up with no father role model, in collapsed estates, amongst nothing but other black underclass kids etc and its a downward spiral.

Trevor Phillips is a black man and former Head of CRE so hardly a racist....

Asylum seekers involved in violent attacks while in immigration detention are being released into the community, including one man who assaulted staff and was involved in more than 250 incidents.

The violent detainees are released before security checks into their background are completed, according to an insider with intimate knowledge of the detention system.

The disturbing account by the whistleblower follows Prime Minister Julia Gillard's decision on Wednesday to launch an inquiry into the release of a convicted terrorist into a low-security detention facility, where he remained for months even after his background came to light.

According to the latest account of security problems in the immigration network, one man, Khoda Doost, was involved in more than 250 incidents, including assaulting staff, and released in Victoria where he threatened to kill people and burn down his house.

A Department of Immigration spokeswoman confirmed that a ''series of incidents'' led to Mr Doost having his community residency revoked in September last year.

Mr Doost continues to be involved in violent incidents in Sydney's Villawood detention centre, according to the whistleblower, a manager in the department.

In another incident, a detainee in Melbourne was released into the community only two weeks after threatening self-harm and to kill staff in a roof-top protest, the whistleblower told Fairfax Media.

''This person could be your next door neighbour,'' he said.

The whistleblower, who has worked in detention centres in three different locations, said the department has a target of 2000 asylum seekers being released into the community on bridging visas every month.

So once they are in the community these people haven't been nabbed for any acts of violence.
You're putting forward a great argument against the long term detention of asylum seekers ..own goal Maqqa  Cheesy

Cage people like animals for indefinite periods and you will get a spike in severe mental illness.
It doesn't matter what a persons religion or cultural background is mental illness is sure to increase during long periods of incarceration and this has been proven throughout the century's.
So...like I said Maqqa has proven that the best thing for asylum seekers and the general community is to stop detaining these people behind bars for long periods of time.

I gather you've taken that on board and have change tack slightly

Well they ain't caged like animals at all.
That is a lie.
The indefinite periods are largely due to interventions by refugee/asylum/seeker agents and their appeals.
Mental illness is probably in many cases already there.
The best thing for these people is not to engage criminals and partake in criminal activities.
