You have to wonder how 3/10 Australians can vote for this mess. Who are these people?
i do wonder too, i dont think ive met one and i work in the poorest of the poor suburbs. filling poor suburbs that are bursting at the seams with country shoppers was just political suicide. kevin rudd started it and now he gets to gloat over the mess he created. i would say kevvie is the only happy labor voter in oz and even he may vote liberal just to get back at the back stabbers

Many decades ago the rusted ons were well into the high 30% of the population, even might have been over 40%, similarly unionism was much higher. The ALP use to get well over 40% primary.
Since then the ALP voter base (along with union membership) was dismantling as the working class evolved from manufacturing blue collar jobs to being self employed or into white collar jobs..... they no longer saw the need for unions or the ALP for that matter.
The ALP have just not evolved and if 30% of the population (or less) is all they can rely on they might be out of the game for a decade or two. No doubt the ALP are rapidly reaching their use by date, what is left running the federal party is clearly the bottom of the barrel.
The 30% left might be 20% rusted on and 10% of people who really just hate Abbott.
If the ALP keep to the same path in a decade we might be discussing the same thing about why 25% want to still vote ALP.
