Gillard's Concession speech Sept 2013

[She walks in to howls of boos with her messed up hair. Tim's there and if her hair's any indication he's been giving her some concessions earlier on]

Thanks everybody - my friends [inaudible - not many left]

Today I stand before you with renewed hope for the Labor party. Hope because I'd thought we would win a seat and I was lucky to keep mine by a margin of 1% despite having a 70% cushion in 2010

We fought a great battle and have come up some 45 seats short to form government with another 5 likely to fall before my speech ends.

I am sadden to stand before you tonight. Sadden and relieved. Relieved to sit on the backbench like Ruddie did.

I was going to anoint my successor - but no one wanted the job not even Rudd

So in the days, months and years ahead as we start to bred and indoctrinate the next Labor leader - I say this to you.

Could not care less, the quicker she is deported back to Wales the better.

I'm guessing you'll be calling for Abbott to be deported back to the UK when he ends up having to give his concession speech a few years in the future after he's gone on the nose with electorate (it happens to them all)?

I guess at least Mr Howard did the right thing and deported himself back to the USA after losing.

in NSW and QLD the libs are running very high in the polls. so much for a 'few years' losers.

Looks more like your form as he has yet to have the job.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Mr Abbott will be PM come the next election. How long he will be in for, I don't know... I'll guess now and say 3 terms unless he gets shafted from within, but they all end up being rejected by the electorate. They all get stale with time - some just quicker than others like the present bunch.
