Well i saw part of the speech on ABC24 last night but it sounded like some over-the-counter drug was being banned from chemists and supermarkets. Seriously the media needs to be pulled into line. From the way they were going on i thought something like panadol had been banned.
http://www.skynews.com.au/topstories/article.aspx?id=878558Apparently its about these drugs that wouldn't be sold in chemists or supermarkets.

While morally most would agree this is appalling, but rationally I can't see how such laws can work.
Synthetic drugs can evolve quicker than the law (much like Internet trading) so ban one and another pops up, its like playing whack-a-mole.
I can see all sorts of problems, so exactly what are they banning ?
Legally it needs a chemical definition, a method of detection and a classification to work out punishment.
Might be good politics but the law has trouble dealing with the current known drugs, I was on a fishing trip in a rural area a year ago, went to what you would call a country pub ...... got offered all sorts of drugs, three blind mice could figure out the drug trade, I was not known to anyone yet they felt comfortable to offer me drugs.
