armchair, i dont know if rudd needs to change.

now i think he's a little weasel but my 2 daughters love the guy.
and are almost wanting to hand out "how to vote' cards for him.

he's an interesting phenomenom. i cant quite put my finger on it but the rudd 'phenomenom' is going to make this election very close.

I agree.
These days selling any product needs a great face up front. Rudd is one of the greatest political campaigners Aus has ever seen, he is "The Showman". I cant help watching him, unfortunately I don't agree with his policies.
Abbott needs media training pronto or acting classes, either would help his political career.

he has some rockstar quality.  he has a cockiness and a confidence which is well suited to the sound bite.

the electorate wont get all that cloak and dagger stuff. they just see a  bloke with charisma  and lets face it  tony has zippo.

we are going to have to use the reasoning of lao tzu and sun tzu to beat kevvie.

ultimately, the only way to beat kevvie is to let kevvie beat himself.

is there time for him to trip up.

he is mad if he doesnt call the election soon.

if he does win, my prediction is his government would be SO CHAOTIC  labor would be out for 20 years.  might be a good one for tony to throw?

It's simple: Kevin is into populist politics. He tells people what he thinks they want to hear. His failed border security policy is a fine example of how badly things can go wrong when you utilise populist politics. More than 40,000 people on over 700 boats since scrapping the Pacific Solution and more than 1,000 people have died at sea. That's populist politics. Just because it makes people happy, doesn't make it right.

True - Kevin is an expert at populism.

He can speak for 30 minutes & nothing he says could be disagreed with
by any normal person.-

e.g.
he'll say something like:

we will encourage innovation, higher school standards , manufacturing & help farmers to succeed.
We'll build a stronger Australia & a better future for our children.

I think he has rote memorized populist statements.
If you were a politician you'd have to do the same.
Tell people what they want to hear & get voted in.

Tony Abbott is great on the negativity.
He said
the new cabinet was not a B grade team it was a C grade team.
Tony comes up with supreme negativity but
it might be his downfall as people want to hear about hope
for a better future even if it's bull dust.

I think you're wrong about Tony. He has given credit where credit is due, but those moments have been few and far between since Labor took office in 2007. You forget that as Leader of the Opposition, his job is not to blindly rubber-stamp government policy, but to hold the government to account and to offer a credible alternative. On both counts, he has succeeded, destroying Rudd first, then Gillard. Admittedly, he had SOME help from the Labor Party in this endeavour. He IS offering hope - hope to stop the waste, the bad policies and the dysfunction that is at the very core of this Labor government.

oh i agree totally he's a slimey little weasel.

he's totally unscrupulous and looking at the way he treated julia
he is vindictive, cunning and disloyal.

he is cunning and clever. he is undeniably vain, pompous and in policy delivery, a total failure.
still, he may well win.

Krudd's actions show he is not a team player in any way. It's all about Krudd. Same with Juliar - it was all about her staying in power, no matter what the cost to the party or country. Admittedly, Howard should've gone earlier, but at least he didn't take the country down with him - unlike Krudd and Juliar.

In fact, it is not the full 'conversation.'  The period of head nodding menacing silence was much longer, and it has been shortened to save TV viewing time.

No, I don't.  But the full version of the menacing period of silence was around at the time.

The Libs sure are worried about Kev leading the ALP to victory in the next election.

Thread after thread of pure fear.

The next few months are going to be very interesting.

Aren't they, though.....

Many sleepless nights on that side of the fence.
