Correct - I think you'd be better off with Rudd.

Julian Assange is also far too extreme and dangerous to be allowed into the Parliament. I hope he does not win, he is a Nazi.

Dear god

Firstly it is the PIIGS (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Spain) Should add UK & France.

Secondly—it was right wing governments that encouraged building booms which crashed with the GFC, you know, just like Howard & Costello did here! Just we had better bank regulations so the crash just left a heavily indebted private sector.

And, yes, Abbott has talked about “high government debt” (net debt is not high) and getting back to a surplus so austerity is his aim:

1. Take away the compensation for the Carbon “Tax” he says he will cancel (he says he will keep it but the Costello “Audit” will recommend scrapping them—a lie in other words.

2. The GST will be increased

3. 60K Public Servants will be sacked

4. Lots of programs will be scrapped, pensions reduced, privatisation etc.

After a year of Abbott unemployment will be over 8%, after two years of Abbott it will be over 10%.

Even if you do not believe in God, you need to hear out the Christian Liberation/Social Gospel because it is one of the few rational and decent voices out there at the moment..

What will the  Abbott austerity program consist of?

Maybe the Libbos on this forum have some inside information
on what we should expect under an Abbott government?

Will we look like Greece as per this picture of riots?

What is your secret for being so eyewateringly, arse-seepingly stupid - that's the question everyone is asking.  You have to be, evoking  Greece to make a point about Australia.

Just fvckn stupid.

BTW, are you honestly saying that you WANT Rudd to be your PM? You WANT Rudd? Or is he just your non-Howard, non-Gillard, non-Abbott candidate.

Dear Soren,
You are forgiven for your insults.

If you actually read the front page you would have seen photos of more than Greece -
there are images of austerity riots in France Spain & Italy as well.

I will either vote Green or not at all.

Who will you vote for?

Don't tell me that you are not fully aware that comparing Greece and Australia, complete with riotous pictures, was just bombastic, propagandistic BS by you.

I will be voting for the anti-Green and anti-Labor candidates, of course.

Do you really think australia wont have riots if abbott goes too far? Seriously? Ppl are ppl all over the world and nobody likes to get a raw deal. Aussies are pretty much sheep so havent done it so far but if you make it impossible to live then ppl are going to rise up.

Ironically (The PIGGS nation's economic crisis) is EXACTLY what happens when you have runaway 'democratic' socialism and the Govt runs out of other peoples money or drives its most productive citizens away with rampant taxation.

Labor has been sending Australia down this path since 2007.

Vote Labor / Green and Aust too can be an economic basket case like Greece and Spain.... Sad

You're a Libbo -
give us the gossip on what Tony's austerity plans are?

Actually I'm not.  Political parties of any persuasion are much too collectivist for me.

The LP is just the lesser of 2 weevils.

At a guess though I'd say the Coalition will quite logically try not to spend more than they earn and to limit pork barrelling to a minimum.

This may mean getting rid of lots of dead weight and free loaders out of the public service and maybe introduce a bit of user pays mentality instead of throwing money down bottomless holes.

They will also incentivize business and industry to bring down unemployment and increase both productivity and profitability by shedding the millstones created by the socialists thus increase earnings by cultivating increased tax revenues and reducing the amount it has to pay out in handouts to those allergic to work. Angry

So a Liberal government will reduce government services, add significantly to the unemployed, force pensioners to pay more, cut penalty rates and overtime.

This will mean less income and less spending. Perfect climate for a recession.

Thousands Protest Austerity Measures in Spain, Germany and Portugal

On Saturday thousands have taken to the streets of Spain, Germany and Portugal to protest austerity measures in the debt stricken nations.  Protesters could be seen carrying banners saying, “No more cuts” and “Screw the Troika,” referring to the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the groups that bailed out a number of European Union nations.

But dudd did reinflate the property bubble in australia knowing very well that it was the cause of the GFC ! Go figure !!

Both sides of governments have been complicit in this Sad

Rudd did not reflate the property bubble—no funds around for another boom!

True he increased the FHBG—or did you WANT the housing market to crash amidst all the other problems in 2008-9? FHBG not good policy generally, was warranted then, is now helping housing recover even tho weakly.

bullshit he's the only one who has told the truth. I want to see him in parliament because he has the dirt files on all of the politicians and can use parliamentary privileges to expose the lot of them. Bring it on Wink

My bet is that property will either fall or the Chinese will buy up all they can
& keep the prices steady.

Yes he did by tripling the first home buyers scam and then keeping it going for another 6 months after its cutoff date.

He also made changes to the FIRB to allow foreign students to buy property here and since then every tom dick and harry from china has been buying out whole suburbs Sad

Labor also provided government guarantee of bank deposits giving the green light to banks to lend money out to anyone wanting to buy a house.

The very thing that caused the GFC  in the first place, labor was doing as part of their stimulus package Sad

The vote is now 12 to 2 that Abbott has a secret austerity program.

What is he not telling us?
