Abbott is going to kick sick people off the DSP:

No he's not!
He's going to kick all the rorters off the DSP.

He's going to bypass all the doctors seemingly handing out DSP certifications willy nilly...and make the genuinely disabled folk be certified by a govt doctor.

As it should be.

The DSP pays more than Newstart. Wink

Gee, Bambu, that's a good idea. Who thought of that?

It's already the process. All applicants for the DSP are assessed by a Commonwealth Medical Officer.

Mr Abbott must be smart.

"He's going to kick
all the rorters some
off the DSP by moving the goal posts.

Fixed.

He's going to bypass all the doctors seemingly handing out DSP certifications willy nilly...and make the genuinely disabled folk be certified by a govt doctor."

He's going to impugn the professional ethics, behaviour and attitudes and expertise of the medical profession and rely instead on a supposedly tame in-house and therefore subservient doctor who is incapable of functioning in a private surgery.

Those on DSP ALREADY have to pass a government doctor......

This entire policy thrust is designed to cater to the total misconception that thousands of people out there are getting a free ride on DSP....

It runs like tghis:-

Had me a neighbour once - down from Queenslund.... he was always on about 'dole bludgers'and so forth.

I asked him one day how high unemployment was where he came from... he said about 6%.. I asked hyim how high it was in a major industrial centre such as Wollongong... he had no idea but it is around 15% and higher form young people....  Sydney I asked?  6% or so.. Malbun?  About the same....  anywhere else?  The same or higher.....

His response?

Still dole bludgers even though there are no jobs available, and to cover his own lack of a solid position and knowledge by becoming angry....

These, and the fat cats who've never missed one thing in life - are the people this kind of nonsense caters to...

the... "Oh, I went to a private school and had big fees paid and ate at the top and got a free ride into a nice job..  surely everyone can do that unless they are a slacker and leaner!!"

or... "I had a sweet job and me missus had a sweet job in an office and a second job as well as well doing as little as possible to earn big bucks.. anyone who doesn't do that must be a slacker and leaner."

Amazingly stupid.

Does the austerity program include flying his VIP jet to Sydney yesterday for a press  event when the Canberra parliamentary press gallery was full of reporters as parliament is currently sitting!

Thanks Sir Crook,

then again - you would hardly need to be a clairvoyant to

predict Tony Abbott's intentions.   Wink

I don't think it's really secret....I mean he's talked spending cuts and new taxes...not sure how much more blatant you can get? Besides blurting out that the new taxes and spending cuts are going to be called "Tony's Austerity Measures".

There's more than just two options though, Austerity seems very specific and so is the idea of inflation and debt......I'd prefer lower taxes, lower spending and more freedom for people to tackle these issues. Government is largely incompetent and the creativity of people cooperating can have some amazing results when it comes from voluntary interaction for mutual benefit.

Behold the angels of government our "Democracy" (Read: salesman popularity contest) has produced, free from; lying, bias and greedy self interest.....oh wait  Cheesy

Surely if someone from Labour was in we wouldn't have this issue....oh wait that happened too  Undecided

I know! We get loud randoms with no morally or logically grounded principles who will use the massive power of the state to somehow satisfy the wants and needs of 22+ million people from all socioeconomic backgrounds! Make way for Palmer or the Greens! (It'll work this time right  Wink )

I certainly do!
No austerity program, then Australia is finished.

Half of 12 million family and single taxpayers in Australia receive more in welfare payments from the federal govt than they pay in tax.
That must be changed...or else...it's down the drain we go.

Fair enough -

then Abbott should have told us before the election that

" All I can offer you is blood, sweat, toil & tears "
