Do we have to wait until the Australian dollar is worth Jack Sh.t before we get rid of this incompetent Government?

Our dollar is nose diving, little wonder with a Government that seems to think that the panacea for our problems is to keep borrowing and borrowing from China.

There will have to be monetary reforms to stop this incredible economic slide Labor has our Country on.

You can quote all the International ratings you like, the reality is that Labor has plunged this Country into historic levels of debt and we continue down this rocky road.

Watch how quickly those ratings change once the rating companies see that Rudd runs this economy like a flea circus.

It's crap posts  like this that make you wonder how this country ever got to the position it is in now.
Let me remind you again just who had the dollar at it's lowest point since 1990.
Yes no other than your gods Howard and Costello.
So was it there fault or was it other factors?
April 2001 47.7 cents to the US $

Why do Libbos always want to punish the most vulnerable people?

Why do they always see unions as militant?

We'll see violent protests as legions of starving people
take over the streets.

he had to try something to take the women's vote from Gillard ...

at the time he realised that policy he still thought Gillard would automatically win the woman's vote. If he had known that women disliked her more then men, he would never have announced that little thought bubble

Ironically (The PIGGS nation's economic crisis) is EXACTLY what happens when you have runaway 'democratic' socialism and the Govt runs out of other peoples money or drives its most productive citizens away with rampant taxation.

Labor has been sending Australia down this path since 2007.

Vote Labor / Green and Aust too can be an economic basket case like Greece and Spain.... Sad

You're a Libbo -
give us the gossip on what Tony's austerity plans are?

Actually I'm not.  Political parties of any persuasion are much too collectivist for me.

The LP is just the lesser of 2 weevils.

At a guess though I'd say the Coalition will quite logically try not to spend more than they earn and to limit pork barrelling to a minimum.

This may mean getting rid of lots of dead weight and free loaders out of the public service and maybe introduce a bit of user pays mentality instead of throwing money down bottomless holes.

They will also incentivize business and industry to bring down unemployment and increase both productivity and profitability by shedding the millstones created by the socialists thus increase earnings by cultivating increased tax revenues and reducing the amount it has to pay out in handouts to those allergic to work. Angry

So you really believe that?
I thought Abbott had a secret massive austerity program?
At least that's what just about what every Labor & Green politician has been saying.

and you believed them??? did they make a nice youtube video for you so it would enhance you gullibility??

"Normally", Austerity programs are simply part of the ups & downs of the "Normal" Economic cycle, which have been a "Normal" part of Economics, for much of the last 200 years or so, of the Modern Economic Era!

However, this is not a "Normal" Economic cycle, owing to the prolonged impacts of Demographics, Energy Shortages/Price increases & Climate Change!

Therefore the "Normal" across the board Austerity programs are (think Europe)/would be (think Australia, the USA & elsewhere) absolutely the wrong thing, at absolutely the wrong time! Indeed, many of the "Normal" Economic fixes applied via both the Austrian & Keynesian Economic schools of thought, which have previously been successfully used, will now prove to be largely ineffective

That said, targeted change, to reduce expenses & primary consideration going to improving Productivity, is absolutely the correct thing, as this once in history combination of Economic drivers will continue to impact on us Locally & Globally, for decades to come.

WE NEED NEW APPROACHES/SOLUTIONS TO THESE PROBLEMS, WHICH ARE FAR FROM "NORMAL"!

which you conveneintly never enunciate.  you disagree with profligacy and austerity and you disagree with balancing a budget. What other fiscal options are left besides printing monopoly money?

You cannot buy your way out of a WFC in the long term. Once the interest starts to pile on and you cannot repay your debts, a deeper recession begins and that's when the easy way KRUDD took starts to take its toll on the country.  America's downturn which started the WFC had an effect on nearly all world economies, but not all world economies frittered a surplus away and then went into more debt like the Labor government.  Australia may at the time seemed the envy of the world, but the next few years will change that view of this country unless a Coalition government takes the reins and slowly brings this country back on course, which will not happen in one or even two terms, or generations!

There is no Wendy Swan in the Coalition. He resides at the bottom of the garden now with all the other fairies!

The Yanks have been borrowing money in gigantic amounts
& printing money night & day since 2008 yet their economy
is good & their dollar is of high value.
They don't have hyperinflation which is a big surprise.
That has turned economics on it's head as it's the opposite
of every lesson in history.

The common sense rules no longer apply.

You'd have to be a clown to say that the american economy is 'good'. It is still getting stimulus money and can barely stay out of recession.  Debt is enormous, deficit is massive and the best you can say is that it is getting better. Every single indicator is worse than us.

it is also worth noting that exchange rates are based almost entirely on sentiment and psychology and rarely on fundamentals.  at the time in question, the aussie economy was booming and the USA was lurching int recession. The market however decided to support the US dollar for reasons known by probably no one and contrary to economic sense.
