Yes it is odd, usually betting agencies prefer the outsider to win.

Not everyone bets so the odds might be higher then they should be, but no doubt most gamblers would not consider the ALP.

Also it would be interesting to see the size of the bets, for the coalition you would have to throw a big amount out there to make it worth while.

But I have never heard of paying out before the race!
