A pack of spineless wonders masquerading as leaders couldn't make the hard decisions so now we have a potential bureaucratic rift between Australia and Indonesia. Being hard isn't the problem. It's being weak. This Labor government will go down in history as being dumb and weak. I can't wait until they start towing those boats back.

I don't know what planet you have been living on for the past 60 years, but Indonesians have stated openly and in my presence that they consider Australia to be part of Indonesia. All those white people they see living there are just temporary visitors who are oppressing the native Southern Irian Jayans. The quicker the white people move back to Europe, the better it is for Javanese to start occupying the territories that "once belonged to them". They aren't kidding about that either.

Idiot post of the day. Just make any sh!te up, no matter how stupid it sounds.

Naive post of the day. Just call anyone an "idiot", no matter how much more world experience they have had.
Yoiu made that up, Ive met thousands of Indos, travelled all over the country for decades and have never heard anyone say any such thing. Whats your world experience chum?

try handing out a few bribes to the cops here and see where it gets you

prison in 24 hours

Corruptions at a high level here, we are riddled with it. Despire which, whats the difference to paying the coppers the fine directly or giving it to the government. Same diff.

Been to Indonesia. Met thousands of Indonesians. Noted that many had vitriolic views of white people in their country, probably due to colonialism experiences predating most of the Indonesians. Dated a few Indonesian women. They seems to like it on top.

Been other places too, but I'm assuming you want to stick with Indonesia.

Never heard anyone say that in my whole life, also anti white views are extremely rare in Indonesia amongst the average person. Anti Chinese is the norm.I travel there at least 6 times a year for work, so you are full of it.

Somehow, someone travelling 6 times a year to Indonesia makes one "full of it". Did you get locked up in your hotel room for much of the time? Or were your visits to Kuta beach? Ironically, they don't seem to like white people there much, either.

As I recall during the East Timor conflict of the late 1990s, Indonesians do care about not caring for Australians. I recall white residents of Java getting accosted by teenagers and young adults looking for Australians. Students and other ratbags also hold a dim view of foreigners, with Schapelle Corby being "targeted for death" threats because she brought pot into Indonesia. Meanwhile, they will "defend to the death" someone accused of plotting the Bali bombings. Their double-standards are amazing.

But I suppose, apart from that, they are pretty decent people.

what a load of bollocks. The 1998 riots targeted Chinese, not western interests. A few random fundies made death threats angainst Corby, big deal,. She wasnt targeted because she was Australian but because she was a drug smuggler who they perceived was receiving more lenient treatment. Which was indeed the case. There was a bit of heat over the east timor thing but nothing significant and far less than what happened here against the Muslims after the 9/11 bombings. The average Indo actually has quite a good impression of Australia. For a long time when Suharto was in power until Howard pulled the pin on it Australia broadcast an Indonesion language news by shortwave, for a lot of the Indos this was the only source of free news. They really respected us for that. as far as defending to the death the bombing accused, thats rubbish again. They had their nut bag fundie followers but these are the minority, Despite which, the bombers got the death penalty, so exactly how is that defending them. If you have been to Indo lately you would have noticed thye anti terrorism campaign in full swing with the bodies of shot terrorists prominent in the media. Ive been in the most Muslim fundamental areas of Indo like Aceh and as a westerner have felt completely safe.

I dont go to Bali, its a sh1thole. I cant tell you much more about why I go to Indo as it could clearly identify me to anyone I deal or work with casually reading this forum.
