Should we allow self harm dictate policies?

You can read the article yourself

The issue here is
(1) Illegals were rescued by a merchant ship
(2) Nearest port was Indonesia
(3) Merchant ship headed back to Indonesia
(4) Illegals threatened self harm if merchant ship did not head to Australia
(5) Merchant ship turned around to head to Australia

The Coalition's desperation is palpable. It would seem that kicking the reffos is the only strategy that they believe Abbott has the ability to execute.

Kevin has already admitted fault and is looking into alternative policies so all the finger pointing is nothing more than petty name calling created by Mr Abbotts falling poll figures.
All the neo cons have left is negativity and name calling and these are no substitute for policies and debate

Yes, being soft on border protection has worked not at all; but the soft cock leftards will never let labor enact a viable alternative, like cracking down on border protection and making any non-approved entry unviable to those that seek a shortcut to the dole office.

Maybe it's too late the horse has well and truly bolted; when 50 000 becomes 200 000 or 500 000, all you lefties can congratulate yourselves for a job well done.

You mean kicking the economic country shoppers who pay people smugglers to arrive via illegal means.
The only party that is 'desperate' on this issue is Labor as they have been caught out pants down, and they know it.
It's also this issue more than any other that will hand the Coalition the next election.

All very nice, except Rudd only admitted Labor was late in attempting to fix the problem.
Rudd admitted nothing about being the clown who removed a working policy to install a failed one, therefore his admission is worthless.
And your right about policies, Labors policies on this issue have been a disaster.
And only a change of government can fix this issue, just like the last time.
