Didn't seem to be a problem last time if I recall. Aussie...You see KRudd has taught the malingerers a trick or two under his stewardship.

There is always a solution but that weak turd Rudd won't make the hard decisions.

That's the trouble with you lot....
You all live in the past.

You still driving around in a Stanley Steamer, Red??

Has no one looked back over their shoulder.

The answer to this is screaming at you.

Under John Howard's policy of turning the boats back, only 2 boats got through in a year.

Once we get a Government who have a half an ounce of backbone and send the Navy off to refuel restock then escort the pirate boats back; it won't take long for word to get out amongst the freeloaders that they will do their 15K if they get on a boat.

Because pirates aren't exactly known for giving refunds to unhappy passengers.

It worked before and it will work again.

Once more I say loud and clear, Indonesian boats leaving Indonesia and crewed by Indonesians.

Just turn the bloody things around and send them back where they came from.

It's amazing how people with such simple minds manage to wipe their ass.
All this bullsh it about the lying little rodent did this and that, the whole world has  refugees turning up on their doors because of the actions of  assholes like Howard invading their countries, simple and dumb, what a combination. Roll Eyes

Another way to stop the boats:

Cease all offshore processing.

Provide decent accommodation and encourage citizens, perhaps from service clubs, to mentor refugees, assisting them to learn the language and culture.

Set a definite period for processing, with a court order required if the period needs to exceeded. Make the decision open to one appeal.

Work through the UN to persuade countries like Sri Lanka to stop terrorising their own populations.

Work with UN, Interpol and Indonesians to track down and incarcerate people smugglers.

Simple, workable and, above all, humane.

How about convicting the Indonesian skippers for human endangerment. In Australia people aren't allowed to fit 10 people in a car and drive over the limit. Same thing.

Yes, yes. And while you're at it, world peace, a cure for cancer, abundant renewable energy and free drugs for all.

Yep! Pretty-much what I've said all along.

It's really the only acceptable solution.

I'm not interested in anything the Libs may come up with, nor am I happy with the Labor way.

I know how to stop the boats- turn Australia into a toilet and nobody will want to come here. We are on the way to doing it.

A brilliant LW Conservative policy.
Sydney is turning into a toilet. I don't feel safe in much of it at all.

I hear Darwin is nice.  Smiley

No. Dunedin is much better.

We have this on reliable evidence.

It's getting late. I'll start on that tomorrow. At the weekend I'll find the meaning of life.
Anyway, sounds like you're on the free drugs, already.

The course of action I put forward is hard-nosed I know, but it's in the expectation that none of the political parties will provide a solution at all to prevent what is currently managable at great cost turning into a flood which won't be managable.
As to the navy refusing to operate under these instructions, well we'd just have to look at outsourcing the job to private security.
As to other nations refusing to help our vessels or aircraft in distress, I don't know of that occurring elsewhere  and we are not invading anybody.
If Rudd looks to withdraw from the convention, as has been suggested, it's not going to physically stop the movement. Neither is some regional agreement which will be honoured in much the same way as free trade is, ie not at all.

Consider asylum claims only for those who come directly from a territory where their life, physical security or physical freedom were threatened due to the reasons described in Article 1, A(2) of the 1951 Convention.

Provide asylum visas only, not permanent residency, when asylum is granted.

Put Tony in budgie smugglers and Mirrabella in a bikini and put them on a boat out in the international waters.

Be enough for anyone to turn their boats back.
