Labors plan to create jobs - invest in innovation
Jul 19th, 2013 at 12:17am

Check out the ad they keep playing on the radio and TV.

First thing they need to do is to get rid of the tax on start-ups and then abolish negative gearing on properties so people will start to invest in other things instead of speculative property bubbles. Can labor pull it off or is this more spin before an election ?

Great - first they could show me where all the innovation is that will create these jobs - and in sufficient numbers to make a difference.  Then they could work out the logistics of production and distribution at our often mooted high pay rates.

I can't see it working myself.

Our biggest growth sector in the workforce is health - maybe we should become the medical nation of the world instead.

You can have all of the health you like but if you don't produce anything you end up like Detroit or even Sudan. No wealth no health !!

All industries tied to tax payer handouts such as health are make believe businesses.

Negative gearing doesnt cause "speculative property bubbles", you seem to forget that the investor needs to lose money on their property before being able to offset it against tax. Theres no big money to be made doing this despite what you think. For someone like me earning 6 figures and owning 3 rental properties the beneifts of negative gearing are minimal.

yes it does because it encourages investors to borrow more and then offset any losses and interest payments against the income in their day job in the hope that there will be a capital gain at the end of it. You do expect a capital gain from it don't you or are you doing all of this just to help out the poor tenant ? Cheesy LOL

Maybe we could segue the boat trafficking business into a piracy deal, like Somalia - to bring in a few dollars...

(*sits back with popcorn and awaits the arrival of don insanito who has the knife out for me - hey - at least we don't live next door to no coons!)....

...case ya pop in, don, with that loaded tongue in yer hand - this one's for you... on the airwaves...

These are the sort of innovations that could revolutionise australia and the world.  This is our chance to get in on the ground floor.

You'll know if they are serious if they get rid of the tax on start-ups

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-30/start-ups-say-tax-laws-are-crippling-their...

So far I haven't heard anything about this so are we to assume it will be business as usual if dudd gets back in ? ie the same old generous tax concessions for property speculators and hoarders whilst high tech start-ups can piss off ?

The great geek brain drain, tech start-ups stopped on the line by Australian tax

Tech start-ups might be the geeks in the business basement. But they could have the potential to add more than $100 billion to Australia's economy within 20 years.
Technology's not the problem though, it's tax, and entrepreneurs are complaining it's crippling start-ups and driving many offshore
