Legitimate questions, what about the morals?  Does the frigging left have any?  Where is the outrage?

Compare and contrast to the reaction if abbott had declared as an electoral platform that if elected no boat people would be resettled in Australia but instead all would be settled in PNG.

It exposes the duplicitous left and its crocodile tears big time and I am happy as f*ck it has.

I have no respect at all for hypocrites.

Asylum seekers will be dumped in a third world nation, rife with disease, lawlessness and corruption.

Asylum seekers are fleeing with their lives. The Refugee Convention was written in the shadow of Auschwitz/Berkanau.

Many European Jews gladly settled in a third world nation - Palestine.

Yes, they did. First it was their homeland, second, they could build a nation in the desert.

What can asylum seekers build in the steamy jungles of PNG, among the headhunters?

Gee, if New Guinea’s that bad, maybe we should be offering them asylum.

Don’t worry though, PF. People in Jakarta are Facebooking each other as we speak. There will be a lot of asylum seekers making new plans from here on in.

The kicker is the no settlement in Australia for boat people clause. Why would anyone pay thousands and risk their life with that in place? They’d be better off buying a fake passport and applying for a tourist visa.

When the boats stop coming, we can offer people asylum who can’t make it here by boat.

All that will happen is that people smugglers will move part of their operations to Port Moresby. As in Indonesia, they will have no problem finding authorities to bribe.

Yes. That was my point.
A Labor Government doing this and some of its supporters prepared to support all in the vain desperation of winning at all costs.

Leave your morals at the door....

Spare us the theatrics, jungle boy.

Apparently he has an African mother.

Talk about a touch of the tar brush.

These people.

Maybe we should just let refugees into Australia, instead of putting them into detention camps that have literally been described as comparable with war POW camps. I don't know, but it feels like it'd be a lot EASIER to just grant these refugees fleeing to Australia, basic human rights, and decency.

WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!!!

Rudd has just  announced on television that all boat arrivals would now be transferred to New Guinea. This follows an agreement drawn up with the Prime Minister of New Guinea.

So now Rudd can announce that he has stopped the boats.

HOWEVER; this needs thinking through. Rudd would have given an iron clad guarantee that  associated with the upkeep and maintenance of the boat arrivals would be underwritten by you the Australian Taxpayer; further, you can bet London to a Brick that there would be a heavy 'pick up' for New Guinea on top of the substantial aid money that this Country gives it.

It would have to be a huge 'kicker' for the New Guinea Government to give the nod to this one.

The Wizard of Oz has done it again, smoke and mirrors and whallah...the boats disappear, at least their occupants do, to New Guinea but the financial cost of this is going to be enormous and I will be tub thumping to find out how many billions of Australian Tax Dollars are tied up with this latest sleight of hand.

What a load of rubbish...what a load of rubbish..load of rubbish!

PS (Apologies speller in header, can't edit it)

So he solved the boat ppl thing and you ppl are still not happy?

The day Australia lost its heart and soul.

What happened to my once beautiful country?

Just last month PNG was talking about reintroducing the death penalty, today they have grown a humanitarian heart? I don't think so.

Has anyone wondered how much this is costing, not only on a human level, but economically?

The day Australia lost its heart and soul.

Shame, Australia, shame!

that interesting pansi. I didnt know about the death sentencing.. I have heard they still head hunt in parts though..

I dont recall you being up in arms over Malaysia where they do have the death sentence and always have done..

surely it is against our human rights policy to return anyone to a country with a death penalty.. so wouldnt that be breaking our own rules...the mere sniff of a death penalty should make us back away.

personally  we are bribing this very poor nation to do a job.. that I think could well be beyond them..

this is a desperate measure to win a few votes...looking at the riot that is reported on the threads.. these people are not your average asylum seekers..they are demanding and violent..,

I don't agree, Peter. Australia will still be accepting the same number of refugees. And the ones who end up in PNG, which I don't think will be many, won't be bribing people smugglers to do a round trip via Australia.

Oh I was up in arms about Malaysia, any off shore process to be precise. I have always been against pushing our problems onto other nations, poorer nations at that. I have always said that we should process asylum seekers here and look after them here.

Human rights policy??? Do we have one? I think that was unoficially abolished a while back, when we started treating humans like maggot infested garbage. We should take our name off the UNHRC, then we can become like those other barbaric nations that are a law unto themselves. I hope Kevvy lose his seat on the United Nations Security Council over this.

Mannus Island is not coping right now, yet they want to expand it, that's too crazy.

It never ceases to amaze me that the very people who profess to be upstanding Christians can even contemplate doing this to fellow human beings.

I'm happy for the dangerous boat journeys to stop, something had to be done, but what a horrible way to go about it.

Rudd's making Julia Gillard look compassionate....and she was one evil woman.

Congratulations John Howard.....you've won!

Please change the National anthem.......we are not sharing any boundless plains.

weren't you worried about stopping the boats? Now they are stopped ... you should be glad.
it's what you've been whinging for for ages isn't it?

I will await to see the implementation, but yes, if it stops the boats I will be pleased, nothing inconsistent in my approach.

Now about that muted response from the left, you don't get a whiff of hypocrisy?  ffs on the drum they were complaining about mosquitos and jobs,  nuffin to do with being resettled in a UNHCR signatory country and free from persecution or being returned to home.   And the greens have displayed what they want, borders open for all, every one welcome.

Rudd has well and truly exposed the open secret of the left.

not sure if you realise it or not, but the Greens and labor are two very different parties. The real hypocrisy is in those crying out for a solution and now whinging about a possible solution.
