Howard stayed in power basically by buying votes from segments of the community with middle class welfare, effectively sqaundering the benefits of the mining boom. How Rudd will manage is a different thing with no money to fling around, but he is just as good a strategist and propogandist as Howard if not better. I dont think this is all he has under his hat.

The Greens are having an anti Kevin Rudd rally on the steps of parliament house in Adelaide at 2pm today..Maqqa and Longy should go along now they dont want the boats stopped without putting our navy personnel at risk.

What an embarrassment the greens are.

By actually keeping the same ethical stance on an issue and not turning 180 degrees for the sake of electioneering?

Who'd have thought the guy who warned us we'd lurch to the Right under Gillard would 3 years later put a policy that finds him to the Right of Tony Abbott??

The Greens are not the embarrassment here. It's the ALP and its win at all cost strategy.

I know you hate Rudds solution, people don't drown or get smashed against rocks hey, buddy?

Wait til the first 12 year old asylum seeker is gang raped and murdered in PNG or even only until they start getting sick and needing hospitalisation. The whole crazy pyramid scheme - that's what it is - will collapse immediately. If it doesn't get thrown out by some court after a challenge by the refugee lobby.

This is a hare brained idea only Rudd could come up with - and you are svking his d!ck in ecstasy for it simply because you imagine that this will stick it to phoney tony. But how much more phoney is Rudd? He has not stood by one single commitment he has made over the years. Not one.

Not on CO2, tax, boats, fuel watch, grocery watch, marriage. The things he did stand by or conjured up from thin air turned out to be expensive turkeys: school halls, pink batts, stimulus. There is no greater phoney that Kenvi. He doesn't have the principles to stick with anything. Announcement IS his policy.

Abbott is a plodding, garden variety conservative with no crazy schemes or brave new ideas. That's what conservatism IS. You know what he stands for - preserve what' working and let people themselves tinker with what isn't.
You know he wants to stop the boats, balance the budget, keep marriage normal, keep people taking responsibility for themselves, help the Aborigines help themselves, get the unions back in their box.  If he gets elected, he is not going to suddenly allow in even more boats, blow an even bigger hole in the budget, endorse arsefvcking and muff diving as marriage equality, mandate union membership, sell Abos into slavery in PNG.

You elect Abbott and you know what he is going to do.
You elect Rudd and you have no idea what he is going to do.
That the difference.

and that is the crix of the issue.  Rudd changes his mind for the same reason we change nappies - because they are full of crap.

And the electorate will throw Tony out at the election for the same reason we throw out nappies.

continuing on with the nappy metaphor... You dot throw out a nappy BEFORE you've tried it.

Hi Longy,
looking forward to another 3 years on Ozpolitic on
the losing side for the Libbos?

says the person who has adopted both sides of the political divide.  And since the Libs are still in front, it is perhaps a bit early to declare Rudd the victor in a contest thathas not been announced and where he is still behind.

A delusional liar to boot. The Libs have not been in front of any poll for weeks, why do you lie so much? Who cares, loser. I look forward to three more years of your tanties, it suits you being a loser.

They have been behind or equal in just about every poll since Rudd came back. Abbotts ass is Rudds. I am not surprised  you're too slow to catch on, most of the conga line have moved on and are now calling for phoney Tony's head. You  cods and maqqa were always going to be last to work it out, no prizes for guessing you three were class dunces.

IM tipping that as Rudd waits longer and longer and he has more massive failures likE the FBT fiasco that his polls will start to drop. his polls are popularity-based only, not based on substance.  A few fiascos and he will start to drop like a stone.  Even the PNG plan will eventually backfire once people realise it is a policy based on his re-election, not on stopping the boats and may not even last past the next election.

are you under some sort of impression that Rudd will wait another 6 months? Rudd will call the election next week, 2 weeks tops.

they've not been behind in ANY poll other than the rather discredited single one that has been wrong more often than not. Galaxy and Newspoll both had them at 51/49 to Libs and lately 50/50

Gee Skippy you really HAVE undergone an epiphany, a few weeks ago you were ready to commit Hari Kari.

Don't get too comfortable friend, I predict the pendulum will swing against Rudd before the election, his record is appalling, but just right now he is getting the 'halo effect'.

He really does have a f....g appalling record when you look at how useless he was first time round. There will be plenty of adds to jog people's amazingly short memories before election day.

The FBT fiasco, eh Longy?

Aside from the fact that nine out of ten voters will never even know or care what that is, it’s a fiasco?

Sure, when Rudd wins the election to popular exhaltation - after the palm leaves are laid down before his entry nto Jerusalem - after he achieves the undoable, the unthinkable - yes, you’ll be proved right.

Until then, watch this soufle rise, and enjoy the fireworks.

You’re right. They won’t last.

That’s right, Red. And this, coming from someone who announced the New Guinea solution as "WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH".

3 times.

Since then, you’ve come around. You’ll be coming around to a new Rudd government too. You won’t be happy about it, but you’ll come to what therapists call, a place of acceptance. It won’t be easy, I know.

God knows why. Rudd’s the new John Howard - only (for some strange reason) far more pupular. I have no idea why you’re not sucking Rudd dick.
